The best way to learn German is by learning it in Germany. Learning German in German surroundings is both quicker and more efficient than learning German in a non-German speaking environment. You will not only learn in our classrooms. Besides lessons, your stay will be enriched by contact with native speakers at your course location.
The course participants will be put into different classes according to their previous knowledge of German. Your language abilities will be assessed at the beginning of the course, and at regular intervals there will be brief tests during class. At the end of the course you will receive a proof of attendance with optional assessment and a certificate after passing an examination.
The teaching methodology is based upon a fully communicative approach that promotes and encourages students active participation. This methodology aims at developing oral and written communication skills. A wide variety of up-to-date authentic material is used in class as valuable examples of real communication, thus introducing the students to German culture and society.
The main communication skills listening, speaking, reading and writing - are equally investigated and gradually developed. You will learn through interviews, discussions and role plays, through work with the whole class, with a partner, in small groups. From day one, the teaching language will be German.
All of our courses are structured according to the following system:
- Beginners 1 (G 1) - you have no previous knowledge. You will learn to understand and exchange simple pieces of information, for example, about food, living, traveling and working.
- Beginners 2 (G 2) - you have some previous knowledge which you will consolidate and extend in this course. You will gain confidence in communicating in day-to-day situations both in writing and speaking.
- Beginners 3 (G 3) - you will learn how to communicate appropriately in day-to-day situations (for example work, education, leisure) when speaking or writing and how to under-stand relevant items of information when listening to or reading simple texts.
- Intermediate 1 (M 1) - you will consolidate and extend the knowledge acquired in the Beginners Levels. You will learn how to talk coherently about familiar topics and how to under-stand relevant information in complex texts.
- Intermediate 2 (M 2) - you will learn how to express your own ideas appropriately about a broad range of topics, and how to understand and exchange important information taken from the media or your own area of work for example.
- Intermediate 3 (M3) - you will learn how to communicate your own ideas to a very high and sophisticated level, dealing with socio-political, literary or scientific topics, in both written and spoken form.
- Advanced Level (O) - you will learn how to communicate competently in social and professional contexts or during your degree course. You will be able to understand and express complex ideas and detailed information.
Our courses: During the course, you will learn everything your need to communicate in German: correct use of language, good pronunciation, reading, writing and grammar. In class, you can introduce subjects that are important to you personally or professionally.
- Intensive Language Courses:
Not only will you learn German intensively, you will also really get to know Germany and its people in a convenient way. The teaching language will be German from day one. You can choose the intensive course that suits your needs an timetable best: 4 or 8 weeks or a course of variable duration.
Intensive courses offer 20 and 25 teaching units of 45 minutes each per week in groups of up to 12 participants. Lessons take place Monday to Friday. We offer courses throughout the year. There are no lessons on bank holidays and during the Christmas break. After you have successfully completed a course level, you can continue each course on the next level.
- Individual Courses:
Of course one-to-one teaching is possible at our institute. Additionally, we offer tailor-made courses to suit your needs, either at the institute or your own location. Company courses, crash courses etc. - no problem at all: We will be happy to advise you.
- Special Programs:
German language skills can improve your chances on the job market. Many German companies abroad and many foreign companies in Germany, as well as companies with close business connections to German speaking countries, expect their employees to know German. We will show you how to use German successfully in your profession.
For people in industry and commerce - this course will introduce you to the language of business and administration and will prepare you systematically for the PWD exam. For people who need to use German professionally - students interested in the examination "Zertifikat Deutsch fόr den Beruf" (ZDfB) will find this the ideal preparation course.
In addition to your language course, you can also book your accommodation.
Usually you will be accommodated in halls of residence or in private accommodation or in a single or double room. The average price for the single room ranges between 15 - and 25 - per night. The price of double rooms ranges between approximately 12 - and 20 - per night. Should you require more comfortable accommodation, we can arrange for you to stay in a pension or a hotel, if you let us know early enough. Prices are between 40 - and 80 per night in a medium category hotel.
Faculty Information:
All teachers have of course a University qualification as well as special training in teaching German as a foreign language. Our teachers have pedagogical know-how and inter cultural competence. We offer 8 level courses.
Other Activities:
There is no substitute for the experience of a foreign culture at close quarters and for direct contact with the people to give a true understanding of the language. This experience therefore comprises an important part of our course program. The culture and leisure program of the our Institute is happy to incorporate participants' interests and requests.
Twice a week and in summer up to four times a week our Institute offers a diverse program of free time activities accompanied by a teacher. The students are offered the opportunity to get to know the many facets of the city's cultural life and the free time activities available. Participation in these events is free, with the exception of charges for entrance fees or drinks.
Fixed highlights in our program include a welcome party at the beginning of the month; a barbecue party, weather permitting, at the same location, a city tour, also at the beginning of the month, and for sports enthusiasts a weekly football and volleyball tournament.
Also we can offer:
- visits to exhibitions and museums;
- guided sightseeing tours of the city;
- visits to companies;
- parties, Stammtischs, discos;
- meeting Germans;
- day and weekend excursions;
- sports program;
- visit to cultural events.
All costs for the organization of the program are included in the course fees. Weekend trips as well as entrance fees for the theater, museums etc. are offered at cost price.

The halls of residence are simply furnished and feature:
- rooms with shower and WC;
- rooms with WC and showers on the same floor;
