Photographic Discovery Tours was begun in 2002 by two photographers, William P. McEllligott and John Hewett Hallum. John comes from a very successful teaching background having taught for over 30 years in the teaching profession. John has conducted Photography Tours/Workshops in Canada , Cuba , United States and Mexico. He has since retired and now lives full time in Mexico. William continues to be a very successful Architectural and People photographer with over 30 years experience in this field. He is based in Chelsea, Quebec Canada He has been conducting Photography workshops based on Visual Design out of his Studio located at Meech Lake for the past 7 years.
Together they formed, Photographic Discovery Tours. All of their Tours to date have been based in Mexico mainly in Oaxaca, Merida and Campeche. New Tours for 2006 will be held in New York City in the United States, as well as Yucatan, Campeche, Mexico City, San Miguel de Allende, and Patzcuaro Mexico.
The need for Creative Expression exists in us all but it is seldom given the chance to develop. Here is the opportunity to immerse yourself in a workshop/tour which will awaken your Creativity and expand your visual potential.
Photographic Discovery Tours ia a unique concept in Photographic workshops. With PDT you will discover not only new and exciting locations but you can realise your true potential as a photographer. Our approach will encourage you to explore the world around you as you see it and broaden your technical and creative expertise.
We will provide a creative learning environment through guided excursions to unique locations. You will discover the real Mexico, meet the local people,revel in the local colors,sights,sounds and be immersed in the history and grandeur of this remarkable country. During scheduled reviews you will receive constructive feedback of your technical skills and creative exploration. Both Beginners and Advanced phtographers are welcome.

Because we are paricipating in a Photography /Tour workshop we are moving around a lot. We stay in moderately priced Hotels and Bed & Breakfast facilities which are first researched by ourselves. These are always safe,clean and comfortable establishments and reflect the character of the area. Web sites are provided for the clients to visit.
Other Activities:
Spanish lessons are available through local universities. Personalized Digital courses involving photoshop are also offered. In Canada weekend workshops are also available in both the Fall and Spring seasons. These classes are based on Visual Design and explore the elements of light,color,shape,line,perspective and texture. These course are offered in either Digital or Traditional film format

Notes:
Tour incudes, accomodation-double occupancy with bathroom,early morning snack,transfers to and from airport. Local land transportation to excursion locations. Entrances to museums,galleries and historic sites. Observation, evaluation sessions,lectures and critiques. Two professional photographers will accompany the tour and actually go out and shoot with the students. Guide and Translation services. Delivery and pickup of film.
Not included: Airfare to and from starting destination, baggage, equipment, medical and cancellation insurance. Meals,drinks, tips and gratuities. Personal expenses. Photographic equipment, film and processing. Single supplement is also extra.
