We teach anyone who wants to learn English, from Tourists to Teenagers, from Foreigners to Friends, from English Second Language Speakers to those just wanting to brush up on their communication skills. We do not have specific start and end dates for our courses. We offer the following courses but each student can customize their courses to suit their specific needs.
* The Study Travel Package: The Study Travel Package consists of English lessons in the morning and sight seeing trips in and around Cape Town in the afternoon. The sight seeing trips are conducted by professional Tour Operators and runs from 13.30 - 17.00 during the week and full day on week-ends.
* General English Course: The General English course covers all aspects of language learning; such as reading, writing, listening, and speaking. We also concentrate on Grammar in these lessons. Course material is provided to the students. We have Beginner, Elementary, Pre-intermediate, Intermediate, Upper-intermediate and Advanced level classes. Student will be required to do a placement test in order for us to place the student in the appropriate level.
* Business English Course: The Business English course is designed for Business people wanting to brush up on Business Terminology as well as Business students and other interested parties who want to learn Business English. Topics that are covered are Presentations, Negotiations, Meetings, and even the Stock Exchange. During the lessons students will be asked to do projects based on the field of business they are in. They will then be externally evaluated by a panel of businesspeople. This course can also be tailor-made depending on the needs of the student. Lessons will also cover skills like reading, listening, writing, speaking and grammar.
* Junior Group Exchange Program: This program is exclusively designed for School going learners of non-English speaking countries. The learners do an English course in the morning and a chaperoned travel package in the afternoon and on week-ends. Accommodation will be arranged for the learners and their chaperones and the cost will include catered meals during the week, with the Learners being allowed to sample South African cuisine of their choice on weekends. We will also try to arrange for the Learners to spend time at a South African school and mix with their peers.
* Student Group Exchange Program: This program is exclusively designed for Students from non-English speaking countries. Students do an English course in the mornings and a Volunteer Program in the afternoons. Accommodation will be arranged for the students and the cost will include two meals a day. During this exchange program the students will be able to spend time with the locals and get to know the culture of South Africa.
Many employers and tertiary institutions recognize the exams ( First Certificate in English, Certificate in Advanced English, Certificate of Proficiency in English) as a measurement of the level of English that a student has. These lessons are geared towards getting the student ready for the exam. We offer the preparation for the exams as well as offering the services of registering the students for the exams. All these exams are externally set by the British Council and the dates are preset for the year and can be taken in Cape Town after the course.
* IELTS AND TOEFL: Students who are interested in applying to South African, American, and European universities, need to do either the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or IELTS (International English Language Testing System). The IELTS exam can also be taken by South Africans who want to immigrate to various countries. Exams can be taken in Cape Town after the end of the course. Students who want to study at the University of Cape Town, University of Stellenbosch, The Cape Peninsula University of Technology and Damelin College, and any other tertiary institutions in Cape Town can use our services to complete their application forms and assist them with whatever they need.
Faculty Information:
The director, Atia Adam has been working as an English Language Teacher for the last 13 years. During this time, she has taught all the levels of English, from Beginner to Prificiency, Cambridge exam courses, including IELTS, TOEFL, Business English, English for Specific Purpose: English for Medicine, Travel and Tourism, Aviation English, Technical English, as well as Legal English. Her greatest achievement was when one of her IELTS students achieved a Band 9 in the exam. This is the highest accolade any teacher could ever ask for.
