Our top heavy conference is led by some of the worlds most talented authors, poets, screenwriters and literary agents with a ratio of 1 to 3. Instead of being lost in a crowd at a large conference, Abroad Writers' Conference prides itself on holding small group meetings where participants have personal contact with everyone. Stimulating talks, interviews, readings, Q&A's, writing workshops, film screenings, private consultations and social gatherings all take place within a week to ten days. Abroad Writers' Conference promises you true networking opportunities and full detailed feedback on your writing.
"I don't think I ever could have imagined that I'd find myself in such an astonishing, magical setting--amongst such astonishing people." DAN CHAON, National Book Award Finalist.

Writing workshops are designed to assist serious writers in the craft and the business of writing. Each workshop consist of 14 participants. All participants must send in their manuscript by email 60 days prior to attending our workshops. This should be either a prose work of no more than 30 pages, a short story perhaps, or a chapter from a novel, play no longer than 30 pages, group of poems--no more than eight--, or screenplay. In each session, the group discusses two, sometimes three, participant manuscripts. During the course of the week, one manuscript by each participant is critiqued. Participants are asked to arrive with copies of the manuscript they would like treated in workshop. To insure that each piece of writing receives concentrated attention, there will be no more than 14 writers in the group. Each piece of writing will be read by all participants, with the aim of providing constructive, critical feedback and engaging in supportive dialogue with its author. The morning workshops are led by writer-teachers, editors, or agents. In addition to their workshop manuscript, participants may have a second manuscript or book read by a staff member for an additional fee.
