CCTA conducts all Indonesian Language Programs on campus of the University of Mataram, Lombok, Indonesia. Cultural electives are conducted partly on campus and partly in local communities. Our class rooms are well equipped and air conditioned. Our lecturers are professional academics with education in western countries. The campus is located in Mataram the capital of Lombok. The CCTA Program includes accommodation and transport to and from teaching locations.
CCTA is offering intense programs in Indonesian Language combined with several craft, music and cooking courses as well as an introduction to Islamic studies. Programs will be conducted in Lombok, Indonesia in conjunction with UPT Pusat Bahasa (Language Center) Universitas Mataram, Lombok. On February 7, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed for the conduct of these courses. These courses are available over two, four or six week periods every month of the year. Students will receive a Certificate after successful completion of the chosen program.
Faculty Information:
The Language Center providing the CCTA Program was founded in 1980 and focuses on English Language for Indonesian Students. It belongs to the faculty of linguistics. The Indonesian Language program is divided into 3 levels and is based on "The Indonesian Way" by Dr George Quinn:
- Absolute beginners (Level 1)
- Intermediate (Level 2)
- Advanced (Level 3)
The Pusat Bahasa and CCTA can organise specialised professional Language Programs on request. A higher fee for specialised programs might occur. The Language Program will concentrate on teaching useful, contemporary language, so students can interact in day to day conversations, rather than learning from a standard study book. Emphasis will be placed on conversation and group discussions involving Indonesian cultural life.
- Level 1 Beginners: This level is designed for individuals who have never studied the Indonesian language before. A basic knowledge of the language will be provided. This level will concentrate on the basic elements of spoken Indonesian.
- Level 2 Intermediate: The focus will be on communicating in real life situations, such as bargaining at a market and in shops. Informal and formal aspects of spoken and written Indonesian are studied. The student will be introduced to useful grammar and sentence structure.
- Level 3 Advanced: Participants will already have sufficient vocabulary to communicate actively with native speakers of Indonesian. Students will be motivated to participate in public and private areas of communication in Bahasa Indonesia and finer points of grammar will be discussed to enable the student to communicate on a more professional basis.
All language classes are conducted in the morning from Monday to Thursday. The weekend is free and gives the participant the opportunity to practice acquired language skills on trips around the island, or just laze around Lombok's beautiful beaches and laid back offshore islets. A fieldtrip will be organised for the 4week and 6week programs.
Other Activities:
CCTA offers a variety of cultural electives to supplement your Language studies. We believe that learning a language is also learning its culture. Electives in villages give you the chance to integrate with the local community. We would like to advise that Sasak villages have none of the luxurious western infrastructure; communities are very traditional and poor and live simple lives. If you decide to choose an elective in a village, please be sensitive in your choice of clothing and your behaviour.

The CCTA Lombok Program Includes Accommodation In The Batu Bolong Cottages For The Duration of your chosen program only. Any extra nights will be at your expense. Located on the beachfront and surrounded by lush tropical gardens, this friendly hotel is the ideal place to relax and provides a quiet environment in which to study. Participants will be accommodated in the hotel's air conditioned Garden Cottages which include a private bathroom, WC, fan and a private terrace. Breakfast is now included for participants. Batu Bolong also features Deluxe Beachfront Cottages. If you wish to upgrade to these units you can do so at your own expense by paying the difference as calculated by the management.
