The course takes place at the wine center La Vinoteca, a 10 minute walk from our Spanish school. The class meets twice per week.
Beginner:
- History of enology in Chile
- Typical Chilean vines: Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, location, climate, History
- Wine-tasting: recognizing smells and tastes of each vine; harmony with different types of food
- Selection of the most representative wines of each vineyard
Intermediate/Advanced:
- New vines: Pinot Noir, Syrah, assemblage, composed vines
- Wines by specific locations, for example, from Valle del Maule
- From this level up, students can take a course that will fulfill their interests
Faculty Information:
- Supplement standard Spanish class (20 hours/week group or private) with wine-tasting course
- You may enter at the novice level or skip to the intermediate or advanced classes
- Learn about Chile's famous vineyards and the effects of Chile's varied geography
- Wine-tasting topics from recognizing smells to selection for meals
