Day 1: Caracas - Morrocoy National Park
Meet your guide at the airport and drive to Morrocoy National Park. We invite you to stay at Posada Morokkue while enjoying your stay at the Morrocoy National Park. The posada (guest house) offers different options for day tours and excursions, such as: Cuao Wildlife reserve, Chichiriviche, ecotourism day tours and full services with boat, snacks and cold drinks. Upon arrival, check in Posada Morokkue and enjoy of what is left of the day. Sleep in comfortable rooms, with mosquito nets and a private bathroom. ( - / - / D).
Day 2. Morrocoy National Park
After breakfast, take an excursion to one of the keys and dive in cayo sur, medio or norte. If you feel like taking an open water, advance, stress and rescue and/or nitrox diving class that can also be arranged. Overnight at Posada Morokkue. (B / L / D).
Day 3. Morrocoy National Park
Spend another day diving in one of the keys of your liking. Overnight at Posada Morokkue. (B / L / D).
Day 4. Morrocoy – Caracas – Los Roques
Early in the morning, after breakfast, check out of Posada Morokkue and head back to Caracas to catch a flight to Los Roques, a beautiful national park and the largest marine reserve in the Caribbean. Corals teeming with tropical fish, white sand beaches on islets in turquoise seas, Los Roques is one of Venezuela’s top dive sites.
At the main island, there will be a travel assistant waiting for you. He/she will take you to your posada. Rest, clean up and maybe enjoy a short walk around the picturesque town. At around 8:00 P.M. (or when you start to feel hungry), go back to the posada for dinner. Overnight at Posada Cayo Luna. (B / L / D).
Days 5 - 7. Los Roques National Park
Overnight at Posada Cayo Luna. ( B/ L/ D).
Spend the days diving at any of the following locations:
Madrisqui and Francisqui: Skill level: Beginners; Depth: 45-70 feet; Two amazing reefs close to El Gran Roque, just 7 min. away by boat. They are a wonderful gardens of coral and sponges, with a great variety of reef fauna. The maximum depth is 70 feet. This dive is perfect for beginners.
La Guaza: Skill level: Intermediate;Depth: 30 to 140 feet; Rock formation with a can see the most wide selection of Groupers, and big Pelagic fauna on a crystal clear water at only few minutes from el Gran Roque. There are 3 pinnacles, with depths of 103 feet. There is wonderful visibility for all kinds of pelagic, like barracudas, cup corals, encrusting sponges and sea rods. It's a gathering point for fish as diverse as queen angels and red lipped blennies, smooth trunkfish and black grouper. It is one of the most famous spots in Los Roques.
La Piedra Ahogada: Skill level: Intermediate; Depth: 60-140 feet; A place very similar to La Guaza. We can do deep and night diving here. We can often see jacks, big barracudas, turtles, eels, and great variety of reef fish and rays. From this dive we can reach the cave of La Buceadora.
La Buceadora: Skill level: Intermediate; Depth: 45-90 feet; La Buceadora is close to the other two locations but different in its fauna and flora. Here you can reach the tarpons arch (Arco de los sábalos), and their caves. There is a very interesting cavern with 2 domes where we can do very interesting penetrations; also on this dive we can visit a small three year old sailboat wreck at about 90 feet.
Solapa de Rabusqui: Skill level: Intermediate; Depth: 30 -70 feet; After a 15 minutes ride by boat from Gran Roque you find this underwater cave formation with the most amazing surprises. This is a special reef formation like lapping, with an amazing visibility, where we often see, giant groupers, tarpons, turtles and sharks.
Boca del Medio: Skill level: Intermediate; Depth: 30-70 feet; See vivid corals, all kind of fauna, big schools of Barracudas, rays and Nurse sharks at this site.
Nordisqui: Skill level: Intermediate; Depth: 20-70 feet; Has formations of coral stones and canals with a few shipwrecks. Find some of the most fantastic caves ever seen under water and enjoy big Groupers and Rays.
Cayo Sal: Skill level: Intermediate; Depth: 150 feet; All three sites are located at the west end of Cayo Sal. They include a current-swept mini-wall from 60 to 150 feet and a series of small caves at 90 to 100. There are fish aplenty from clouds of tiny fairy bass lets to big cubera snapper. Spotted eagle rays on the steep reef slope are always to be seen.
Boca de Cote: Skill level: Intermediate; Depth: 45-70 feet; Located between two small islands, it stretches like a net to catch the nutrients and juvenile fish flowing out from the lagoon. See many fishes including orange-spotted filefish, several varieties of blennies and massive schools of snapper. The area has some of the best dives spots and a 2 immersions dive is done with a lunch break in between.
Boca de Sebastopol: Skill level: Intermediate; Depth: 30-140 feet; Rarely visited site but arrangements can be made with the dive master and guide. The area has some of the best dives spots. Sharks are frequented here. See sharks mating in the month of June.
Dos Mosquises: Skill level: Advanced; Depth: 45-180 feet; Features splendid reefs, turtles, and is the site of the biological research station.
Barrera Arrecifal Sur: Skill level: Advanced; A primitive and protected area of the south barrel reef, where we have at least 50 different sites, from Boca de Cote to Cayo sal, with wall up to 1.500 meters. We can fine caves, and the most beautiful coral formations, considered one of the best reefs in the Carebean . It´s common to find sharks, turtles, and big schools of jacks, snappers and much more. To reach this place we have to ride at least 40 minutes by boat.
Day 8. Los Roques National Park – Caracas
Return to Caracas for your flight home. (B/ - / - ).
