Description:
The Big Almaty Lake is located 30 km from Almaty in one of the most picturesque gorges of Zailiisky Alatau at 2,500 meters above the sea level. An asphalt road will goes to the Hydroelectric Station, from there hike along a meandering mountain road through a coniferous wood and a blooming valley. In the vicinity of the Lake there is an observatory including a station for tracking cosmic rays. The Lake has its charm. You will long remember its bluish-green water with snow peaks reflected in it, rivers flowing into the Lake, and an edelweiss at your feet.
