If each country we discovered in our travels were to be likened to a living thing, the heart of Vilnius, Lithuania, could be considered its Cathedral Square, where the towering cathedral standing in the center of the city houses the precious chapel of Saint Kazimieras. All major streets radiate from the square like roots from a tree, serving as a lifeline to other beautiful sites throughout the city. The Russian Museum is the brain of Saint Petersburg, with its vast collections of over 370, 000 pieces of that make it the encyclopedia of Russia.
The Hill of Crosses north of Riga can be considered the lingering memories of Latvia's German and Soviet occupations. The harbors of Tallinn are the arms of Estonia that reach towards Helsinki, Finland, and the rest of Scandinavia for economic means. The art nouveau houses that stand along the renowned Albert Street make up the soul of Riga. These countries are alive in their own way and we will feel the energy overtake us as we go on extensive walking tours throughout major cities, or when we admire one of the many pieces of antiquity many of the museums has to offer.
