The well trodden path through Ethiopia's famous and fascinating historical places takes you through a scenic, magnificent world of fairy tale names, such as Lalibela, Gondar, Axum and Bahir Dar.
Historic North is accessible by road and by air throughout the year. Daily flights connect besides Addis Ababa the four historical sites to each other. Traveling the route by plane, by car or both will offer you a glimpse into a truly remarkable past.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Fly to Bahir Dar and after check-in to hotel AM excursion to Blue Nile Falls and PM depart by boat over Lake Tana to visit one of the old island monasteries Ura Kidane Mihret which is known for its round grass-roofed church with magnificent wall murals. Overnight in hotel.
Day 2: Fly to Gondar and visit 17th century castles, Debre Berhane Selassie Church, Fasiledese's Bathing Pool, abbey of 18th century Empress Mentewab and Felasha (Black Jews) Village. Overnight in hotel.
Day 3: Fly to Lalibela and whole day explore the incredible eleven 13th century rock hewn churches carved into the rugged mountainsides. Overnight in hotel.
Day 4: Fly to Axum and visit numerous antiquates, historical relics and archaeological objects along with the famous Tsion Mariam Church where the original Ark of the Covenant is said to be housed. Overnight in hotel.
Day 5: Fly back to Addis Ababa and transfer to hotel.
