Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Porto-Castelo Rodrigo
Transfer from Porto’s airport to Hospedaria do Convento in Castelo Rodrigo. Just outside our inn is a church that used to shelter pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela. There will be a guided tour of Castelo Rodrigo, classified as an Historical Village of Portugal. Castelo Rodrigo still holds its medieval appearance surrounded by impressive stone walls. Lodging - Hospedaria do Convento.
Day 2: Castelo Rodrigo-Barca d'Alva
Hike from Castelo Rodrigo to Barca d’Alva, passing through the village of Escalhão, where we will stop to see the church that was visited by the Caminho pilgrims. Our hike takes us all the way to the Douro river, passing through several vineyards. Lodging - Hospedaria do Convento.

Day 3: Barca dAlva-Quinta de Santiago
Hike in the International Douro River area. Today’s hike starts near the Douro River, climbing the famous Calçada de Alpajares (also named the Devil’s Trail). This will take us to Quinta de Santiago, one of the places where the pilgrims used to stop on the way to Santiago. Today’s hike give us beautiful views of the Douro River and also of some amazing rock formations. Lodging - Casa das Quintas.

Day 4: Freixo de Espada a Cinta-Lagoaca
Today’s hike connects Freixo de Espada a Cinta to Lagoaca. We will follow the ancient trail to Santiago passing through the picturesque villages of Mazouco and Fornos. Lodging - Casa das Quintas.

Approximate time: 5.5 hours.
Day 5: Aldeia de Santiago-Penas Roias
Aldeia de Santiago is a little village that got its name from the Pilgrims on the way to Santiago de Compostela. From here we will follow the trail to Aldeia de Penas Roias. Along the way we will pass by Mogadouro and Azinhoso. In Azinhoso, the local church has beautiful paintings inspired in Santiago. From Azinhoso to Penas Roias we will cross a medieval bridge once used by pilgrims. Lodging - Casa das Quintas.

Approximate time: 4 hours.
Day 6: Penas Roias-Algoso
Today we will walk to Algoso. In the village of Algoso, we can visit the very interesting Casa da Misericórdia, a fountain once used by the pilgrims and the impressive castle on top of the hill. Lodging - Estalagem de Santa Catarina (Miranda do Douro).
Distance: 20 km
Approximate time: 6 hours.
Day 7: Miranda do Douro
Free morning to explore the beautiful town of Miranda do Douro. Visit to the museum of local history and other monuments.
Transfer to Porto after lunch. Farewell dinner in Porto. Lodging - Hotel in Porto.
Day 8: Porto
Early morning transfer to Porto’s airport.
