Your Itinerary
Day 1: Calgary. Depart Canadian Pacific Railway Pavilion in the late afternoon. Cocktail reception and dinner as you head to the mountains.
Day 2: Waterton-Glacier. Visit Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park to enjoy park’s rare wildflowers, unusual geology and dazzling beauty. Then roundtrip cruise on Waterton Lakes from Waterton, Canada to Goat Haunt, Montana. Return to train for trip to Crowsnest Pass. Dinner, overnight on board.
Day 3: Cranbrook; Golden. Cross continental divide to Fort Steele, B.C. Visit Canadian Museum of Rail Travel at Cranbrook. Continue north through Columbia Valley. Arrive Golden for sunsetdinner at 7,700 feet in Kicking Horse Resort’s Eagle Eye Restaurant, overlooking Rockies. Overnight on board.
Day 4: Lake Louise area. Enjoy views from open-air vestibule as RCP climbs through Kicking Horse Pass, whose 1909-vintage “Spiral Tunnels” are one of world’s most ingenious railway engineering feats. Arrive Lake Louise, disembark for sightseeing. Dinner, overnight on the train.
Day 5: Banff. Full train day through Bow Valley to Banff, with views of towering mountains: Victoria, Temple, Castle, Rundle. Free time at Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, “Castle of the Rockies.” Dinner on board. Overnight Calgary five-star hotel.
Day 6: Calgary. Transfer to train station or airport.
