Detailed Itinerary:
Day 1: Amsterdam
Private transfer to the pier. Embark on the MS Amadeus Princess in wonderful Amsterdam. A cocktail will be served in the Panorama Bar before the welcome dinner. The vessel stays in Amsterdam overnight.
Day 2: Amsterdam – Volendam - Enhkuizen
After breakfast, absorb Amsterdam's most important sights on our Amsterdam sightseeing tour. The ship leaves Amsterdam at about 12:30 p.m. and quickly crosses over the "Ijsselmeer" to the little fishing town of Volendam, from where you will experience the Edam excursion. A motorcoach will take you between the fields of colorful tulips, onto Enkhuizen, a charming port with a rich maritime past. During dinner the vessel resumes its cruise along the 'Ijsselmeer" and on into the river Ijssel.
Day 3: Arnhem - Belgium
The MS Amadeus Princess reaches Arnhem in the early morning. During the morning, the Arnhem and its open-air museum1 excursion provides an opportunity to see the town, battle history, and the daily life of its people from 1700 to 1970. At about 12:30 p.m. the cruise continues through the lovely Dutch scenery. Have a relaxed afternoon onboard, while the vessel takes you into Belgium.
Day 4: Antwerp
In the morning the ship docks in Antwerp, Belgium's second-largest city, and formerly one of the most important harbors in the world. The sightseeing tour of the city will allow you to familiarize yourself with Antwerp, which is best known for its diamonds and Peter Paul Rubens (diplomat, architect, teacher and painter). The outstanding sights of this city - so richly endowed with museums - are the "Liebfrauenkirche", Belgium's largest Gothic church with its bell-tower, the "Brabo" fountains in the Grote Markt and the Rubens house/studio. In the afternoon you will join the Brussels excursion to the Belgian capital, where you can see the impressive Grand’Place and the "Manneken Pis.", amongst other attractions that the city offers. At midnight we set off again, heading for Ghent.
Day 5: Ghent - Bruges
In the morning the MS Amadeus Princess reaches the imperial city of Ghent. Our city sightseeing includes the many fine sights of the birthplace of Emperor Charles 5th, such as the St. Bavo cathedral with its world-famous painting of the altar of the citizens of Ghent, by Jan van Eyck, and the "Belfried" with its bell-tower. In the afternoon you join our Bruges sightseeing tour. There, you will see the "Pulverturm", the Town Hall, and a Madonna by Michelangelo in the magnificent Liebfrauenkirche. There's time in the evening to explore Ghent on your own, before the ship casts off again.
Day 6: Bruinisse - Dordrecht
The MS Amadeus Princess arrives in Bruinisse in the morning. A bus will bring you to the start of the Zierikzee city walk1, which includes a medieval center (completely preserved), two city gates (from the 14th and 15th centuries), the Gothic "Burgerweershuis", the fish market and the 16th century town jail. Enjoy lunch on the ship, or relax while cruising before you reach Dordrecht, at 3:30 p.m. On the Dordrecht & Kinderdijk1 excursion you will see the Groothoofspoort, a 17th century city gate and the Gothic "Grote Kerk" church in Dordrecht, before driving on to Kinderdijk, where you can see Holland's largest group of working windmills. This evening after dinner, you can enjoy a performance by a Dutch folklore group in the Panorama bar. The vessel stays in Dordrecht overnight.
Day 7: Dordrecht - Amsterdam
A stopover in Schoonhoven this morning, will allow you to experience this pretty little town, before the cruise continues on to Utrecht along the Amsterdam/Rhine canal. The MS Amadeus Princess leaves the port of Utrecht at about 2 p.m. Enjoy the Keukenhof excursion, where you will marvel at the tulip fields between Haarlem and Leiden. Re-embark in Amsterdam. The captain welcomes you to the gala dinner for your last night onboard. Dance the night away to the live music in the Panorama bar.
Day 8: Amsterdam - USA
After breakfast, disembark and take a private transfer to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport.
