Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Tana. Arrival at the airport welcome and transfer to the hotel. City-tour in Tana. Grégoire Hotel***/ Karibotel***/Ivotel***. BB
Day 2: Antananarivo - Antsirabe 170 km. Departure for Antsirabe by car in the Highlands through the green rice fields. Lunch at the Restaurant "au rendez vous des Pêcheurs" in Ambatolampy. Continuation to Antsirabe, the town was built by the Norwegian missionaries and is famous for its rickshaws, thermal springs, semi-precious and precious stones. The visit of the stone cutter factory is a must. Hotel Hasina*. BB
Day 3: Antsirabe - Ranomafana 240 km. Transfer to the crater lake, renowned for its tales. Visit of a typical peasant family. Continuation to Ambositra, capital of the Zafimaniry region, known for its sculpture and marquetery.
Drive to the National Park of Ranomafana, where the golden bamboo lemur was rediscovered in 1989. Several endemic animal species can be observed very closely: birds, chameleons, frogs, insects and lemurs. Hotel Domaine Nature (Bungalow)/ Setam Lodge / Ihary Hotel. BB
Day 4: Ranomafana. In the morning, walking in the National Park. In the afternoon, swimming in the thermal swimming-pool in the village of Ranomafana. Then nocturnal Walking in the Park. Hotel Domaine Nature (Bungalow)/ Setam Lodge / Ihary Hotel. BB
Day 5: Ranomafana - Ambalavao 110 km. Transfer to Fianarantsoa, the administration centre of the Betsileo tribe. City-tour in Fianarantsoa. Transfer to Ambalavao, the wine-growing region and the biggest zebu-market of the island. Arrival at the Antaimoro paper-manufacturing centre; nice papers are made all by hand from plants similar to papyrus, the so-called "Avoha" and decorated with many flowers. Hotel Bougainvilliers. BB
Day 6: Excursion to Andringitra 50 km. Excursion to the National Park of Andringitra, possibility to reach the second highest peakk of Madagascar "pic Imarivolanitra" on 2860 m if you are good trekkers. Drive back to Ambalavao. Hotel Bougainvilliers. BB
Day 7: Ambalavao - Ambositra 210 km. Drive back to Ambositra. Hotel Mania/ Motel Violette. BB
Day 8: Ambositra - Tana. Drive back to Tana. Grégoire Hotel***/ Karibotel***/Ivotel***. BB
Day 9: Flight to Tamatave, drive to Foulpointe 50 km. Flight to Tamatave, drive to Foulpointe. Hotel Grand Bleu. BB
Day 10 - 11: Foulpointe. Free schedule. Possibility to nautical activity. Hotel Grand Bleu. BB
Day 12: Flight back to Tana. Grégoire Hotel***/ Karibotel***/ Ivotel***. BB
Day 13: Flight back to Europe. Shopping at an artisans' market. Visit of the palace on the sacred hill of Ambohimanga. Flight back to Europe.
