120 Miles on 7-speed All Terrain Bikes
Tour Description:
Start in Copenhagen; spend 5 nights in excellent hotels and 4 days cycling an average of 30 miles per day. Your luggage is waiting for you each evening when you arrive at your new hotel.
The Danish countryside varies all the time, green hills are quickly followed by waving yellow and green fields, picturesque villages, well-preserved castles and manor houses, lovely beech forests, tranquil lakes and clean, white beaches. In the towns and villages you will come across many interesting examples of Denmark's heritage and history.
The Danes often use their bicycles, both in their everyday life and on holiday. Cyclists are therefore given high priority in the traffic. In the towns you will find bicycle paths. In the country there are many quiet peaceful lanes and paths specially designated for cyclists.
Our routes have been carefully planned so that you do not come into contact with much traffic, still allowing you the opportunity to see and experience as many things as possible en route. Detailed color maps and route descriptions make it easy to find the way. The distances are always manageable.
The tour includes a good 7 speed bicycle and accommodation at hotels or inns with half board. Luggage transport is included in all our tours. This means the luggage will be picked up at the hotel in the morning and will be waiting at the next hotel in the afternoon.
All our hotels and inns are of high standard, and the rooms have private facilities. At our hotels and inns you will find the best of Danish cuisine, so your holiday will also be something of a gastronomic experience. In the towns the hotels are centrally located. In the country, you will be staying at small family hotels and inns oozing with Danish atmosphere and holiday feeling.
The bicycles are city bikes fitted with 7 speed Shimano Nexus gear and brakes. They come in four frame sizes and are designed to suit our tours and clients of all ages.
Your Itinerary:
Day 1: Copenhagen
Arrival in Copenhagen. All major sights are within walking distance of the hotel. How about a stroll down Stroget, the long pedestrian street? Not forgetting the side streets of course. Here you will find the old medieval part of Copenhagen as well as many excellent restaurants.
Day 2: Copenhagen-Helsingor 30 miles
Ahead of you on the first day of bicycling lies a pleasant ride out of Copenhagen (on bicycle paths) towards Helsingor. Enjoy Dyrehaven, the royal hunting ground on your left, and the view over the sea - Sweden towering in the distance - on your right. You will be riding near the coast all day. At Rungsted you can visit the home of the Danish author, Karen Blixen (Isak Dinesen). Louisiana, the museum in Humlebaek, enjoying world acclaim for its exhibitions of modern art as well as for its picturesque location, is definitely worth a stop. The night is spent in Helsingor.

Day 3: Helsingor-Skuldelev 25 miles
A day of castles! When in Helsingor visit Hamlet's castle, Kronborg. After that, a lovely ride down to Fredensborg to visit the Queen's summer palace. On to Hillerod and Frederiksborg Castle, perhaps the most beautiful of them all. Spend the night in the village Skuldelev.

Day 4: Skuldelev-Roskilde 30 miles
Visit the beautifully restored manor house Sels~ Slot. Continue through forest land and undulating fields to the open-air museum Lejre where you can experience daily life from Iron-Age to Viking-Age. On to Roskilde, the old Danish capital. In the large cathedral the kings and queens of Denmark are buried. The Vikings lived at Roskilde and their ships can still be seen here. You will spend the night in the centre of Roskilde.

Day 5: Roskilde-Copenhagen 25 miles
Back to Copenhagen. Through picturesque villages to the beaches south of the capital. A path takes you along the coast, away from the traffic, all the way into the centre of Copenhagen.
