Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Auckland-Hokianga. Drive from Auckland to Hokianga stopping on the way at the Kauri & Pioneer Museum at Matakohe. Explore mountainous golden sand dunes in Hokianga where you have the opportunity to go sand surfing, quad biking along the beach, or sand yachting (own expense). This evening be treated to a ‘Footprints Waipoua’ Twilight Encounter tour at Waipoua Kauri Forest. This is a truly remarkable experience! Overnight in our partner accommodation in Hokianga.
Day 2: Hokianga-Cape Reinga-Paihia (Bay of Islands). Visit Ahipara which is the ‘Gateway’ to 90 Mile Beach. Take your time at Cape Reinga - the top of the north where the Tasman Sea & the Pacific Ocean meet. Take some great photos at the top of the lighthouse! Make your way to beautiful Paihia in the Bay of Islands. Overnight in our partner accommodation in Paihia.
Day 3: Paihia. Participate in a Dolphin swim & cruise to the famous Hole in the Rock & Cape Brett. Stopover at Urupukapuku Island. See breathtaking islands & secluded beaches. Visit the famous Treaty House & grounds at the birthplace of NZ, Waitangi, where the Treaty of Waitangi was signed on 6th February 1840. Do a tour & witness a traditional Maori Cultural Performance. Overnight in our partner accommodation in Paihia.
Day 4: Paihia-Russell-Auckland. In the morning take the ferry across to the attractive waterfront town of Russell which is New Zealand’s oldest town & first capital. Stop by Matakana which is an epicurean delight full of wineries, stylish wine bars & cafes. Drive back to Auckland the "City of Sails" and sight see. Don’t forget to wander down to the Viaduct Harbour, go up the 328m tall SkyTower, or check out the trendy suburbs of Parnell, Ponsonby and Newmarket.
