Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Sedona Arrival. Arrive in Sedona and transfer to your hotel. Sedona is a divine place! The physical beauty here combines the mountains of Vermont, the rocks of California, and the clay of Georgia back roads. Sedona is the starting point for hikes and scenic rides through the Red Rock area. Overnight
Day 2: Sedona - Grand Canyon. This morning you will pick up your motorcycle and you are in for a most perfect ride. It’s an intriguing trip that will take you to some of America’s most beautiful spots. From Sedona you head north on SR 89A, which slides into Oak Creek Canyon – probably the most intimate spot on the southern edge of the Great Colorado plateau. About 16 miles long and rarely more than 1 mile wide, the canyon is known for its spectacular colored white, yellow and red cliffs dotted with pine, cypress and juniper. At Mountainaire you pick up I-17 North through Flagstaff to SR 180, then enter SR 64, your road to the fantastic Grand Canyon, which is far larger than anything you can imagine. Overnight.
Day 3: Grand Canyon - Page. After a morning at the Grand Canyon – time for some spiritual moments - you continue on SR 64 East and enjoy cruising along the South Rim for a few miles. Follow SR 64 up to Cameron, which is an old trading post. At Cameron you enter SR 89, which will take you all the way to Page. You are in Navajo Country here – legend has it that this barren land was a bewitched place, where the trees died of fear. You overnight in Page.
Day 4: Page - Zion National Park. From Page you stay on SR 89, head west and cruise through the Vermillion Cliffs and about 8 miles out of Page you will enter Utah. The scenery dissipates and the long straight roads change little until you get to the section of Grande Escalante – arches striped red, brown and white dot the landscape here. At Mount Carmel Junction you take Hwy 9 all the way to Zion National Park. Compared to Yosemite and the Grand Canyon, Zion exudes a stronger sense of nature. Here, you and your bike make immediate contact with the environment. Check out the seven-mile Zion Park scenic drive – a great ride! Overnight.
Day 5: Zion National Park - Las Vegas. Today its off to Las Vegas, the “Entertainment capitol of the world”. You take I-15, which will take you all the way into Las Vegas. En route you might want to stop at the historic town of Mesquite, situated at the state line of Arizona/Nevada. You will arrive into Las Vegas – the city steeped in excess – from the north. It’s probably a good idea to experience Las Vegas for yourself to get a fair idea of this place. After all it’s a playground for adults, a place where you can feel the same freedom you experience on your bike. Overnight.
Day 6: Las Vegas - Kingman. You are leaving Las Vegas and head southeast on SR 147, which takes you to Hoover Dam – one of the world’s greatest man-made structures, and one of the tallest dams ever built (760 ft high). Designed to block the Colorado River and provide low-cost electricity for the cities of the southwest – you should take some time to look at the site. From here you continue on US 93 to Kingman. Enjoy a scenic ride through Lake Mead National Recreation area and the Cerbat Mountains. Kingman is considered the “Heart of Historic Route 66”. Take a cruise down memory lane and don’t forget to stop at the Historic Route 66 Museum. You overnight in Kingman.
Day 7: Kingman - Sedona. Today you follow old Route 66 – from Kingman it’s on to Peach Springs, the trading center and headquarters for the Hualapai Indian Reservation, which covers nearly a million acres between the town and the Colorado River. As you continue your ride down legendary Route 66 you will come to Seligman, another quaint little town. At Ash Fork you catch SR 89 and enjoy a scenic ride through Prescott National Forest. Some 24 miles before you get to Sedona you arrive in Jerome, an old mining town, and perhaps the most popular stop for motorcycle riders. Once you are back in Sedona it will be time to return your motorcycle and transfer back to your hotel. Overnight.
Day 8: Sedona Departure. Today your adventurous trip will come to an end and it’s time to say “Good Bye".
