Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Denver Arrival. Please get a taxi from the airport to your downtown hotel. Our representative will be present at the hotel lobby to give you information about the upcoming trip. Explore the city tonight or just get a good night’s sleep.
Day 2: Denver - Cheyenne. After breakfast you will get to check out your ride for the tour. We’ll quickly leave town and start the adventure. The ride will take us up into Wyoming through Laramie and into Cheyenne, home of the world’s largest outdoor rodeo and Western celebration.
Day 3: Cheyenne - Custer. Today’s ride will lead us across the wide windswept prairies of Wyoming. Imagine yourselves as the pioneers (only your steed is much more fun!) that first crossed these plains over a hundred years ago. The wide open spaces will lead us to the Black Hills of South Dakota.
Day 4: Custer - Deadwood. This day will be spent exploring the Black Hills of South Dakota. Custer state parks abundant wildlife – don’t be surprised if caught in the midst of a buffalo herd crossing the highway. Mount Rushmore, one of the most memorable Monuments created by mankind, will be experienced. The road is twisty, narrow and oh-so-sweet. You’ll be amazed by the rock cuts and tunnels of the Needles Highway. Our destination tonight is Deadwood, SD, a historic site where Wild Bill Hickock was killed.
Day 5: Deadwood - Sheridan. From Deadwood we head towards Spearfish Canyon for a beautiful ride through more of the Black Hills on our way to Devils Tower – have you had any close encounters of any kind lately? Gentle twisting roads through rolling hills take us out onto the grasslands making a stop in Gillette, Wyoming for lunch. We then head west toward the foot of the Big Horn Mountains and Sheridan for the night.
Day 6: Sheridan - Cody. Starting early we make an excursion to Little Big Horn Battlefield. The Battle of the Little Bighorn—also known as Custer's Last Stand, and, in the parlance of the relevant Native Americans, the Battle of the Greasy Grass—was an armed engagement between a Lakota-Northern Cheyenne combined force and the 7th Cavalry of the United States Army. It occurred between June 25 and June 26, 1876, near the Little Bighorn River in the eastern Montana Territory. We then ride back into Wyoming and ride over the amazing Big Horn Mountains dropping into the Shoshone River valley and Cody.
Day 7: Cody. This town offers a lot of things to see and do. Cody is one of the best places in America to experience the True West. Exploring Yellowstone, fishing, hiking, biking, horseback riding, rafting trips, rodeos and a visit to the Buffalo Bill Museum are all exciting ways to experience this town.
Day 8 : Cody - West Yellowstone. Today we ride to Red Lodge, Montana and over the breath taking Bear Tooth Pass into Yellowstone National Park, the world’s first national park. Within Yellowstone our journey will take us past some of the most magnificent displays of natural beauty and wildlife that Mother Nature has to offer. We motor on to the village of West Yellowstone for the evening.
Day 9 : West Yellowstone - Jackson. Bubbling springs and steamy geysers await us as we ride to see Old Faithful blow. Next we head south to Jackson, with the majestic Grand Tetons guiding our way. Jackson Hole, Wyoming has a rich history rooted in the American West.
Day 10 : Jackson - Rock Springs. From Jackson to Green River, we'll skirt the edges of the Bridge Wilderness Area and the Wind River Range. This is the country that was home to mountain men and Indians in the early settlement of the American West. The roads along this stretch offer great riding and views and vistas that are beyond description.
Day 11 : Rock Springs - Steamboat Springs. Leaving Rock Springs behind us we wind our way along Flaming Gorge Reservoir over the Uintah Mountains and drop into Vernal, UT. Here we'll get into the Green River-Colorado River drainage basin. This spectacular Red Rock Country runs all the way down to the Grand Canyon. This country is also the resting place of dinosaurs. On our way to Steamboat Springs, we'll pass Dinosaur National Monument, where over the years scientists have discovered 13 species of dinosaurs. The roads are wide open - deep arroyos, sage brush and shale hills skirt the roads as we twist our way along.
Day 12 : Steamboat Springs - Gunnison. Today’s leg of the journey takes us skirting the continental divide along the spine of the Colorado Rockies. We’ll stop in Leadville, elevation 10,200 ft., for lunch. 14,000 plus foot peaks are numerous as we ride over Monarch Pass on our way to Gunnison.
Day 13 : Gunnison - Durango. Leaving Gunnison we follow the road along Blue Mesa Reservoir and the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. Turning south at Montrose the roads twist their way along the Uncompahgre River as we head for Ouray “Little Switzerland”. We quickly climb out of Ouray and across our first pass, Red Mountain. The route takes us through some of the most scenic mountains and phenomenal roads in Colorado – the San Juan’s. The beauty of these mountains will last a lifetime, riding the “Million Dollar Highway” between Silverton and Durango.
Day 14 : Durango. This day is reserved for local travel around Durango. Everybody is welcome to do as they are pleased. We can only recommend a trip on the Narrow Gauge Railway which travels between Durango and Silverton through unbelievably gorgeous scenery.
Day 15 : Durango - Buena Vista. We start off by skirting the southern edges of the San Juan Mountains on our way to Pagosa Springs and Wolf Creek Pass where we cross over the continental divide. After a lunch stop in Monte Visa we turn north back up toward the high country to Buena Vista in the Arkansas River valley, our last stop before returning to Denver.
Day 16 : Buena Vista - Denver. Sadly your journey is almost over. Before we get back to Denver, we will enjoy riding over 3 more incredible mountain passes including a lunch stop in the unique ski resort town of Breckenridge. Back in Denver, the place where it all started, we – reluctantly – drop off our bikes and get together gather for a recap at our good bye dinner.
Day 17 : Denver Departure. Departure. We say "good bye" to our newly made friends and hope to see you again next year.
