Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival at Nouadhibou. Airport pickup and transfer to hotel. Night in hotel.
Day 2: Nouadhibou - Banc d'Arguin - Nouadhibou (550 km - 7H)
Departure to Arguin Park, We visit one of the major parks in the world with regard to migratory birds. It extends about 200 km of coastline and includes many islands. Discover Iwik, village of black fishermen, the Imraguen, who sometimes fish with the help of dolphins'. Return to Nouadhibou, the economic capital in Mauritania, known by the exportation of Iron arrived from Zouerate by the Train of desert, the longest train in the world (2km) made to transfer the iron. Visit cap blanc the beautiful place on the ocean, Cemetery of boats, the train of iron and the markets of Nouadhibou. Night in hotel.
Day 3: Nouadhibou - Choum (460 km - 7h). Departure by 4x4 cars to Choum small village on the road of the train of desert, visit Ben Amera, monolith of black granite, 400 m in height, the largest in Africa and second in the world after that of Ayers Rock in Australia, camping with tents in Choum desert.
Day 4: Choum - Atar - Passe of Amogjar - Chinguitty (200km - 3h)
Departure to Chinguitty, visit Atar and his markets. Visit The pass of Amogjar is a fascinating canyon where we will have the opportunity to see rock paintings and visit the "FortSaganne", built by the French. Arrive Chinguetti, the seventh holy city of Islam declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, having tour in its libraries, quarters and its oases, optional trek on camels. Night in a Motel. Chinguitty mean «Well horse», this city would be buried by large waves of quicksand; some sources establish the foundation of Chinguetty to (1261). Chinguitty was on the caravan route linking northern Sudan. It traded gold and ivory against the salt, wheat, dates etc... This road was the main access to the gold and other products from the Sudan. The ancient city was a center of religious and cultural influence from which scientists Mauritanian spread Islam and the Arab-Muslim culture in the entire West Africa. Chinguitt was, in effect, a cultural centre where they studied, among other subjects, theology, poetry, philosophy and law. The Minaret of Chinguitt (topped by the symbolic ostrich egg) has become the symbol of Mauritania called until recently "Bilad Chinguitt".
Day 5: Chinguitty - Oasis Terjit - Nouakchott (510km - 7h). Visit Terjit oasis, an oasis of hot springs with fantastic cups in which we can swim, arrive Nouakchott visit the local markets, the lively fish market on the ocean, night in Hotel.
Day 6: Drive to Rosso direction by the Senegal River to the St-Luis town. Take a walk to the city and visit the fishing port. Overnight hotel Capsaintlouis.
Day 7: All day trip to Djoudj National Park.In the evening Sainlouis city tour on horse drawn carriage. Overnight same hotel.
Day 8: Drive to Dakar direction, on the way RetbaLake. Take a walk to the place that the Paris-Dakar Rally is finished. Drive to the hotel (on the beach). Time for rest. Overnight in the Pink lake lodge, Keur Salim or similar.
Day 9: Check out at 7: am. Drive to Banjul. On the way we stop in Koalack. Crossing the border in Karang. Visit the Banjul. Drive to the hotel in Kotu.
Day 10: All day leisure time or (optional) all day tour to Bakau, Kachikaly pond, Visit Bijilo Forest Park. Bijilo Forest Park, in Gambia, is a small rainforest nature reserve which is located on a cliff edge on the beach right next to the Kololi, Senegambia strip about 11 kilometres from Banjul in the Western division of Kombo North (Latitude 13.42861 Longitude -16.73139). It is an ideal place for eco-tourists & birdwatchers. The nature park is an old forest which covers an area of 126 acres and was open to tourists and the public in 1991. Today the park received around 23,000 visitors a year. Prior to this there was heavy de-forestation for valuable rhun palms and its resident green monkeys were persecuted by youngsters and stray canines.
A foot path with seating areas places occasionally along its length meanders its way through varied woodland forest, shrub and tree savannah as well as sand dunes. Wildlife: BijiloForest is host to over 133 species of birds such as the Red-necked Falcon, Grey Hornbill, Prinia and various types of Bee-eaters. There are also 4 primate species that inhabit the park which are the patas monkey, green vervet monkeys, red colobus and the galagos or bush babies. There are signs asking visitors not to feed the monkeys as this will interfere with their natural behaviour and reduce their fear of humans and puts them in danger of being harmed or stolen. Flora: Among the flora are lilies, wild orchids, salt-tolerant vines, magnificent silk cotton trees, palms and the odd looking baobab trees (sometimes called the upside down tree). Drive to Abuka Nature Reserve.
Day 11: Rest on the beach or (optional) all day tour to Tanji village. Drive to Makasutu Reservation.
Day 12: Rest on the beach or all day tour and sail on the boat on Gambia lake to The Jufureh village. Next sail to JamesIsland (the ruins of a fort). Came back to the hotel.
Day 13: Drive to Dakar. Overnight in a 3 star hotel.
Day 14: Dakar city tour + GoreeIsland. This sightseeing tour will allow you to discover some highlights of Dakar: The presidential palace, the independence square, the big mosque, art craft markets, art galleries, colourful and crowded local markets, IFAN Museums. At midday transfer to Dakar harbour to take the ferry boat for Goree island. Lunch on the island. You will spend the afternoon visiting that historical and wonderful island. You will visit the slave house museums, women museums, historical museums and other historical buildings that are heritages of many years of slavery in Africa. Last walking tour on that magical island before boarding back to Dakar in the evening and and transfer to the airport according your flight hour.
End of the tour.
