Tour Itinerary:
Day 1, December 21st: Arrive in England at one of the London Airports, to be met by your personal chauffer, who will transport you smoothly to you hotel, right in the heart of the city. This first day is set aside for recovery and acclimatisation in London. If time and jet lag allow you could take one of the open topped bus tours around London to see some of the sites which would be heavy going on foot, and some which you can return to later.
Day 2, December 22nd: London. Beyond description in this small space. The sites, the museums, theatres, lights, shops, and the people, make London a unique city to experience at Christmas.
Day 3, December 23st: Your adventure continues as you board the train and head north through the English countryside to York. A city dominated by its 13th century cathedral, or minster as they call them in Yorkshire. This city was founded by the Romans and was the Viking capital of eastern England. It is reputed to be the most haunted city in England, and a “Ghost Walk” in the evening is a perfect way to meet some of the City’s previous residents.
Day 4, December 24th: Exploring this ancient and fascinating city before getting down to the serious business of revelling in the Christmas festivities. Mulled wine, mince pies and midnight service at the Minster, before retiring to wait for Father Christmas - remember to tell him where you'll be! Your hotel is right in the centre of York, within a few steps of the Minster and walking distance of everything worth seeing.
Day 5, December 25th: In the morning there is time to open your presents or build up an appetite strolling around the mediaeval city or taking a walk by the river before enjoying your Traditional Christmas Dinner. The afternoon is reserved for much groaning after dinner, watching the Queen's speech (a fine old English tradition) or just snoozing gently in a quiet corner.
Day 6, December 26th: A free day to explore York. Maybe empty a few shops at the start of the Winter Sales or take a trip out of the city to venture into the Yorkshire countryside.
Day 7, December 27th: Taking the train back south to London.
Day 8, December 28th: Your last day in England, as you try to see all the things in London that you did not see at the start of the trip.
Day 9, December 29th: Back home to irritate friends and relations with “when we were in England” stories.
Note: If you choose to arrive somewhere other than London we can adjust things accordingly.
