Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Dakar. Arrival, airport’s assistance and transfer to your sea side hotel for your BB accommodation.
Day 2: Goree Island/Pink Lake. Am take a boat tour to Goree historical Island. Visit Slave House, historical museum before driving back to Dakar and further to the Pink Lake. After lunch take a four wheel drive tour on the sand dunes surrounding the lake. Visit Fulani nomadic villages and interact with salt seekers. HB accommodation with entertainment at 3 stars lodge facing the lake.
Day 3: Pink Lake/Thies/St Louis. Departure after breakfast to St Louis via Thies (stop to discover the national gallery of arts tapestry). Arrive St Louis around noon and full board accommodation at (3 stars) lodge. PM relax.
Day 4: Djoudj birds park/St Louis. Boat tour at Djoudj world birds sanctuary N°3. Possibility to watch over 350 different species of migrant birds which use to spend winter over there, all the way down from Europe. Then drive back to St Louis and have lunch in a local restaurant Pm Calesh tour to discover St Louis the former Senegal capital city HB accommodation at 3 stars lodge.
Day 5: St Louis/Mauritania. After breakfast departure to Maka Diama (Senegal/Mauritania border) and proceed further north on four wheel drive car. Visit traditional villages and take your lunch under an authentic Maurish tent PM drive through the sand dune or swim in the ocean. Appetizer and dinner will be served near a big wood fire. And then before going to bed you will be teached about traditional ways of life of the nomadic
Day 6: Nouakchott. After spending a night in the desert, drive through several oasis to Nouakchott (capital city of Mauritania). After lunch city tour of Nouakchott an original city between modernity and traditions. Visit handicraft centers, various suburb and meet the fishermen on their return back. HB accommodation at 4 stars hotel.
Day 7: Nouakchott/St Louis/Kaolack. Departure early morning to Kaolack via Rosso, ST Louis (lunch stop). On the way visit different ethnics groups villages and interact with inhabitants. HB accommodation at 3 stars lodge located near the Saloum river.
Day 8: Kaolack/Toubacouta. After breakfast visit in Kaolack the hugest market of Senegal rich of medicinal herbs, encens, colourful fabrics etc. Then proceed further south to Toubacouta Mandingo village, located down by the Saloum river. Full board accommodation at 3 stars lodge.
Day 9: Saloum Island Delta. Full day boat tour to discover the Sloum river delta (300 000 ha large) a paradise for various sea birds. Visit fishing villages and get your lunch at desert white sandy beach. Late Pm drive back to your lodge where HB accommodation will be provided.
Day 10: Toubacouta/Banjul ( The Gambia). Departure after breakfast, stop at the Senegambia border for some administrative formalities and drive further south to Barra for the ferry crossing. HB accommodation at 4 stars beach hotel.
Day 11: Boat cruise on the river Gambia.Today you will discover Juffureh village and James Island (on the path of Kunta Kinteh (ancestor of Alex Haley, author of roots). Lunch on board and drive back to Banjul. Banjul city tour, visit the ethnographical museum, the Anglican church and finally the Albert market. HB accommodation at 4 stars beach.
Day 12: Makasutu culture forest. Departure after breakfast and discover through the Makasutu deep tropical forest some aspects of the animist culture such as: initiation ceremony, different kind of architecture, the holly trees etc. Lunch & lecture will be included. Late PM drive back to your 4 stars beach hotel. Accommodation on HB.
Day 13: Katchikally (sacred crocodiles pool). Am relax around the pool or at the white sandy beach. After lunch discover the sacred crocodiles pool where few women use to take ritual bath in order to refind the pleasure of procreating. Also visit the Diola custom Museum (society based specifically on animist culture). HB accommodation at 4 stars hotel.
Day 14: Banjul/Passy/Foundiougne/Saly. Early morning departure back to Senegal via Passy, Foundiougne (lunch stop and ferry crossing). Then proceed further to Fatick where you will meet the African traditional healers who will teach you about their Medicine. Drive further to Saly resort via Ndiosmone, Mbour. Accommodation at 4 stars beach hotel.
Day 15: Bandia Reserve/Departure. Am four wheel drive at Bandia private wildlife reserve. Possibility to see wild animals such as: giraffe, crocodiles, buffalos, antelopes, rhinoceros, monkies etc…PM drive further to Dakar, farewell dinner at sea side restaurant and transfer to the airport for your departure’s assistance.
