Visit to the states of Assam, Meghalaya & Arunachal Pradesh covering some of the unique sights in the world including Cherrapunjee- famed for being the wettest place of the world. The tour truly unplugs the eastern culture, history, splendid nature and wildlife.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Depart UK. Fly to Kolkatta.
Day 2: Arrive Kolkatta. On arrival in Kolkatta, we greet you and transfer to the hotel.
Day 3: In Kolkata. In the morning, explore the myriad sights of the bustling city of Kolkata. Remainder of the day at leisure.
Day 4: Kolkatta-Shillong (via Guwahati). In the morning fly to Guwahati. On arrival at Guwahati Airport, transfer to car to drive (3 hrs) to Shillong- popularly called the ‘Scotland of the East’. Late afternoon, tour of Shillong followed by a leisurely evening.
Day 5: Shillong- Barapani. Early morning, visit to Cherrapunjee (2 hrs drive). Cherrapunjee possesses some exotic waterfalls and impressive limestone caves. At Cherrapunjee, visit Nohkalikai Falls, Mawsmai Falls, Thangkharang Park and Mawsmai cave which is one of the 100 odd limestone caves in Meghalaya. In the afternoon, drive to Barapani Lake enroute visiting Elephant falls and Shillong peak . Overnight stay in Barapani.
Day 6: Barapani-Kaziranga. Morning at leisure. In the afternoon long drive (6hrs) to Kaziranga National Park. Stay at a jungle resort.
Day 7: In Kaziranga. Early morning, jungle safari on elephant back in the central range of the park, for one hour. After breakfast, jeep safari in the park. Late afternoon, another jeep safari in the park.
Day 8: In Kaziranga. In the morning, jeep safari in the eastern range of the park, famous for the Pelican colony. Late afternoon, visit to tea gardens and an Assamese village.
Day 9: Kaziranga-Bomdila. Early morning, long drive for Bomdila (9 hrs). Enroute visit Asia's third largest Orchidarium at Tipi where you will find over 7500 orchids from a collection of approximately 300 species.
Day 10: Bomdila-Tawang. Early morning, explore the splendid Bomdila. Later long drive (7hrs) to Tawang- enroute visiting world's second highest Pass - the Sela Pass (14,000ft.).
Day 11: In Tawang. Morning sightseeing of Tawang including visit to the Tsongeswar Lake, Paradise Lake, Craft Centre and the three hundred year old Tawang Monastery - the second largest Buddhist monastery in the world. Remainder of the day at leisure.
Day 12: Tawang- Balukpung. Early morning, long drive (9hrs) to Bhalukpung. Stay in Bhalukpung for 2 nights. On the border of the states of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh is a place of enthralling scenic beauty. The sparkling river Jia Bhorali which passes through Bhalukpung is a nature and adventure lover's paradise. By the side of the river is the Nameri National Park which falls under the Project Tiger.
Day 13: In Balukpung. Morning, rafting in the Jia Bharali river. Remainder of the free to explore the place at your own pace.
Day 14: Balukpung- Guwahati. Early morning, long drive (6hrs) to Guwahati. Later tour of the city. Evening at leisure.
Day 15: Guwahati- Kolkatta. Fly to Kolkatta. On arrival, transfer to the hotel (day use only). Later transfer to the airport in time to board return flight.
