Your Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrive in Nairobi and transfer to a Nairobi Hotel. Dinner and overnight, briefing and packing of Mountain gear.
Day 2: Drive from Nairobi heading for transfer to the Chogoria. Briefing and parking of mountain gear, dinner and overnight at Meru Mt. Kenya Lodge.
Day 3: Starting off early, trek through the natural forest where elephant, bush buck, buffalo and impala can be sighted. For better acclimatization, climb the Mugi Hill (3,500 m) then descend and walk to a camp beside the Nithi River for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Cross the Nithi River to reach the moorlands from where you can enjoy good views of the picturesque Gorges Valley, the temple lakes, mushroom rocks, billiards table and the high peaks. Hike for 4-5 hours to Mintos campsite for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: After an early morning breakfast at 4:00 am, the trek leads via a steep screed to point Lenana (4895 m), arriving just on time for the African Sunrise. Descend to Shipton’s Camp for breakfast and a whole day’s rest. Dinner and overnight at Shipton’s camp.
Day 6: After breakfast, begin a 5-6 hours descend to Sirimon Park gate (2600 m). The descend offers ample time to enjoy fascinating scenery which includes the moorlands and forests. Transfer to Nairobi, overnight in a Nairobi Hotel. Safari programs after the climb can be organized for interested parties.
Note: During bad weather conditions, climbers may have some distance to walk towards Chogoria, as vehicles may not be able to pass. Climbers must bring along their own climbing gear.
