Accompanied by a professional local guide, you will visit some of the most interesting places in the Ecuadorian mountains and jungle, with some time to explore on your own and choose the activities that best suit you.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Transfer to hotel in Quito; remainder of the day at your leisure
Day 2: Visit the Equator at “The Mitad del Mundo”, afternoon in Mindo with choice of optional activities, such as zip line, waterfall rappelling, visit to butterfly farm. Overnight in Mindo. Includes: (L).
Day 3: Visit the indigenous market of Otovalo in the morning. Lunch in Otovalo then drive to Papallacta to enjoy the thermal pools. Overnight in Papallacta. Includes: (L).
Day 4: Drive to Cotopaxi National Park. Visit Laguna Limpiopungo then continue to Cotopaxi parking lot to begin hike to the refuge, approximately 1 hour. After short rest in the refuge, continue hiking to glacier (30 minutes. Return to the refuge for lunch. Return to parking lot and transfer to hacienda for the night. Includes: (L).
Day 5: In the morning visit to the workshop of a local broom maker in the highlands and stop at a local farm to see cheese being made. Next, drive on to Lake Quilotoa. Lunch in a local restaurant then hike down into the cráter and return to top by mule. Transfer to hotel in Baños. Includes: (L).
Day 6: Free day in Baños (options for horseback riding, canyoning, bridge jumping, mountain biking, visits to waterfalls, thermal pools, zoo). Transfer to jungle lodge in Tena.
Day 7: Spend the day in Tena with your choice of various optional jungle activities, such as: white wáter rafting, hiking in the jungle, river trip in canoe, visits to indigenous community, animal rescue shelter, “Monkey Island,” caves of jumangi. Overnight in Tena with option to enjoy local nightlife. Includes: (L).
Day 8: Leave Tena in the morning for the drive back to Quito, returning by early afternoon.
