This multi-activity adventure trip will take you along some of the most beautiful rivers in Croatia as well as through Plitvice Lakes National Park. On foot, by bike and from your kayak, you will see some of the best preserved countryside to be found anywhere in Europe. At every opportunity, our guides will steer you away from civilization ensuring a truly memorable experience which we are sure will stay with you for many years.
The accommodation is a friendly, family-run hotel on the bank of the Mreznica River, approximately one hour drive from Zagreb airport. The restaurant overlooks an old mill near a small waterfall. It serves freshly caught fish, as well as home-grown vegetables. Barbecues are also a specialty of the house and make for a convivial end to the days activities. Rooms are all equipped with an en-suite bathroom, TV, mini bar and telephone.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1, Saturday: Transfer from Zagreb airport to your hotel in the village of Zvecaj, located by the river, deep in the countryside. After settling in to your room and perhaps walking by the river meet the other members of the group over dinner.
Day 2, Sunday: The day starts with kayak/canoe instruction after which you will set off upstream to begin the trip along a section of the Mreznica River. The Mreznica is a typical ‘karst’ river with numerous travertine waterfalls interspersed with calm, clear water – perfect for a cooling swim. After a light picnic on the bank, paddle back to the hotel and relax by the river before dinner.
Day 3, Monday: Enjoy Rafting on nearby Dobra, the best white water rafting river in Croatia. (During periods of low water levels, rafts may be exchanged for kayaks).
Day 4, Tuesday: Venture into Plitvice Lakes National Park for a hiking tour of 16 lakes and hundreds of waterfalls this World Heritage Site has to offer. Follow the narrow tracks closed to traffic leading through forest, meadows, hills and along the shores of the lake. We consider this to be one of the most beautiful areas in Europe.
Day 5, Thursday: An expedition in the upper section of Mreznica River, with opportunity for lots of swimming. This is the most beautiful part of the river, where the water temperature in summer can reach 25 degrees Celsius. You will travel down deep, narrow canyons and many waterfalls - up to 8 meters high.
Day 6, Wednesday: Take a bike tour along the winding roads to take in the countryside and explore the surrounding villages...
Day 7, Friday: A day to be spent at leisure - relax by the river or take a bike tour to other places of interest in the area. You can also choose an optional excursion like visiting Zagreb, the cultural and political centre and capital City of Croatia.
Day 8, Saturday: Depart Zvecaj Village. Transfer to the airport.
