Day 3: Nairobi - Lake Nakuru

Depart Nairobi in the morning and drive to the Great Rift Valley viewing sceneries en route arriving to the Pink Lake often referred so due to its Great masses of Flamingos. After lunch proceed for game drive in the Park with numerous Animals. Dinner and overnight at a hotel. Lake Nakuru's claim to fame is anchored on its flamingo's and the over 400 species of birds found here. The lake itself is a soda lake on the floor of the rift valley. The sight of the at times millions of flamingos is quite spectacular. From a distance the lake appears ringed in pink. The Lake has also earned a reputation as an important haven for endangered species- particularly the Rothschild Giraffe and the black and white rhino. Lions, waterbuck, buffalo and baboons are all residents here.

Day 4: Lake Nakuru-Lake Naivasha

Depart Nakuru in the morning with game drive enroute as you exit the park and proceed to Lake Naivasha. Bed and breakfast at La Belle Inn. Lake Naivasha is a beautiful freshwater lake, fringed by thick papyrus. The lake is almost 13kms across, but its waters are shallow with an average depth of five meters. Lake area varies greatly according to rainfall, with an average range between 114 and 991 sq kms. At the beginning of the 20th Century, Naivasha completely dried up and effectively disappeared. The resulting open land was farmed, until heavy rains a few years later caused the lake to return to existence, swallowing up the newly established estates.

Afternoon wind and storms can cause the Lake to become suddenly rough and produce high waves. For this reason, the local Maasai christened the lake Nai’posha meaning ''rough water'', which the British later miss pelt as Naivasha. The lake and its surrounds are rich in natural bounty, and the fertile soils and water supply have made this one of Kenya’s prime agricultural regions. Much of the lake is surrounded by forests of the yellow barked Acacia Xanthophlea, known as the yellow fever tree. These forests abound with bird life, and Naivasha is known as a world class birding destination. The waters of the lake draw a great range of game to these shores. Giraffes wander among the acacia, Buffalo wallow in the swamps and Columbus monkeys call from the treetops while the Lakes large hippo population sleeps the day out in the shallows. Boat trips on the lake are widely available, and are a great way to spend an afternoon or morning.

Day 5: Lake Naivasha-Mt Longonot-Nairobi

Depart lake Naivasha early morning and drive to Mt Longonot, depart late afternoon to arrive Nairobi in the evening. Bed and breakfast at the Hotel Boulevard. Walks are through a National Park containing herds of Zebras, Kongoni, Giraffe and warthogs. The variety of bird life should not be missed. The full day hikes are past towering vulture - inhabited cliffs, down a dry riverbed to the boiling sulphurous springs, hike up Mt. Longonot to the crater.

Day 6: Nairobi City Tour

A tour of the City Center, Shopping areas, Parliament Buildings, National Museum and Snake Park. Bed and breakfast at the Hotel Boulevard. Dinner at The Carnivore Restaurant, considered "Africa's greatest Eating Experience". The Restaurant serves every type of barbecue meat imaginable, including four choices of wild game. Arusha is one of Tanzania's city most attractive towns and was the headquarters of the East African Community in the days when Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda were members of an economic, communications and customs union. It has once again become the headquarters of a revived clone of this attempt at regional cooperation under the name of East African Cooperation, following the signing of a number of protocols by the three heads of state in November 1994 and a further 'summit' meeting in April 1996. Arusha elevation is 1135 meters above sea level. United National International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (UN-ICTR) is also based here.

The town sits in lush, green countryside at the foot of Mt. Meru (4556m) and enjoys a temperate climate throughout the year. Surrounding it are many coffee, wheat and maize estates tended by the Waarusha and Wameru tribes people, whom you may see occasionally in the market area of town. For travelers, Arusha is the gateway to Serengeti, Lake Manyara Tarangire and Arusha national parks and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. As such, it's the safari capital of Tanzania. Mt. Meru can also be trekked from here.

Arusha is a pleasant town to walk around and take in the sights, and the market area is particularly lively, but the main concern of most travelers will be arranging a safari and taking off for the national parks. You'll find people here very friendly and easy to approach and, if you've just arrived from Nairobi, you'll appreciate the breath of fresh air and lack of hassle. But, as always, be wary of 'flycatchers' (street touts grubbing up business for safari companies, real or imagined).

Day7: Nairobi-Arusha

Depart Nairobi on board a private shuttle via Namanga boarder to Arusha. Bed and breakfast at the Impala Hotel. Visit Tanzania largest and most famous national park with the wildebeest migration expected in December and May, Tree climbing lions and birdlife in Lake Manyara and finally a tour to the worlds most visited destination (Ngorongoro) famous for high wildlife concentration and breath taking sceneries.

Day 8: Arusha-Lake Manyara National Park

Depart Arusha for Lake Manyara with afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at Lake Manyara Twiga campsite. Lake Manyara is a shallow, alkaline lake that is part of the Rift Valley wall; the lake is at the base of this dramatic western escarpment giving it a beautiful and serene setting. In addition to this peaceful setting, Lake Manyara’s main attractions are its rich bird life, tree climbing lions and its hippos, which you can see at a closer range than many other places. The Lake also hosts thousands of flamingos at certain times of the year and has diverse vegetation ranging from savannah, to marshes and acacia woodland, enabling a variety of wildlife habitats including butterflies.

Day 9: Lake Manyara-Serengeti. Depart after breakfast to Serengeti passing through Olduvai Gorge the site for Leakey’s family discoveries of fossils of human and animal ancestors dating back to almost two million years. Meals and overnight at Seronera Public campsite.

Day 10: Serengeti

A full day in Serengeti with a morning and afternoon game drives. Meals and overnight at Seronera Public campsite as the day before. You can visit the park all year round but there is less game in the park during the dry season – July / October, where they migrate to the Masai Mara in Kenya. During March to May the herds move in search of grazing to the southern section and in May to June, they move towards the western corridor of the park. Serengeti in the low season will still offer game viewing to match that of any park in Africa, and for some, the fewer tourist numbers may be an added bonus.

Day 11: Serengeti via Olduvai Gorge to Ngorongoro Crater

We view game as we drive southeast up into the magnificent Ngorongoro Conservation Area where we spend the night at the Simba (Lion) campsite on the crater rim/a lodge. The Ngorongoro crater is the world’s biggest whole volcanic caldera at 8300 sq km and is arguably the most stunning arena. It is frequently described as one of the wonders of the world, not only because of its geological magnificence, but also because it serves as an extraordinary natural sanctuary for some of Africa’s largest populations of large mammals. Ngorongoro and other freestanding mountains are volcanic in origin, formed during the fracturing process that created the Rift valley 15 to 20 million years ago. When it peaked in size 3 million years ago it was a similar height to Mt. Kilimanjaro today.

Day 12: Ngorongoro Crater-Arusha. After breakfast you will be taken 2000ft down the crater by a 4wheel drive vehicle for a full morning crater tour, picnic lunch at crater. Explore the crater before ascending back to proceed to Arusha for overnight stay.

Day 13: Arusha-Nairobi or Arusha – Zanzibar

The three and half-hours tour starts at the House of Wonder (the first long building and had had Electricity in east Africa). We then proceed to the Sultan’s Palace which now is a museum then to the Old Indian Dispensary, Livingstone House and Market (opened 1904), Where local fruits and vegetables are sold.
