On your own and following the route's book instructions that we will give you, you will visit: rice fields, medieval villages and a typical market. You will visit the jam's museum where you will have a demonstration and a tasting. And to finish with a good feeling you will enjoy from an excellent meal in a quiet environment in front of the sea.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival and accommodation in a charming rural house in the Empordà region. In the rural house you will find a welcome letter with detailed information about the itinerary as well as recommendations of small shops, cake shops, delicatessen, etc. To welcome you, you will find a bottle of cava (name for the local champagne). Free dinner. You will find some proposals of restaurants nearby in our route's book.
Day 2: After breakfast you will go towards the stone village of Palau-Sator, just a few kilometers from your accommodation. Guided excursion: In Palau Sator you will meet a well-known chef from the area. You will enjoy from an unique and exclusive experience. You will go out to the fields and a vegetable garden to pick up the products directly from the earth, our chef will teach you about the properties of wild vegetables and how to cook them. After that you will help the chef to cook them and then enjoy from this special meal in her restaurant. Depending on the season you will gather flowers and wild herbs, forest fruits, mushrooms.
This is a unique opportunity to discover by yourself the gastronomy and products of the Empordà region. In the afternoon you will follow the route by the area of Pals, just 15 minutes by car. You will approach to the Molí de Pals, a mill dedicated to the rice craft production since the XV century. It is worth to park the car and have a walk and enjoy from the beautiful rice landscapes. The rice from Pals has its on appellation origin and it is known for its quality while being cooked, it does not break up, the grain remains free, offering an excellent quality. You must visit the impressive medieval village of Pals, a beautiful town center declared of historic and artistic interest. In you itinerary you will find some of the shops where to buy this special rice as well as the restaurants where to taste it.
After Pals you will follow to Peratallada, where the first weekend of October takes place a famous Medieval Fair. Peratallada (cut stone) is a charming medieval village and as its name indicates, it was all built on a huge stone, the one that was used as quarry for the village's construction. You can still see the signs engraved in some streets made with the old horse cars. In this village there is an important number of restaurants offering the most traditional Empordà cuisine, based in fresh seasonal products. Free dinner, in the itinerary you will find some recommendations.
Day 3: After a good breakfast you will start your route with a museum very close dedicated to the jam's world. You have included a special visit assisting to the elaboration of jam and you will enjoy from a tasting of some of the 100 varieties they offer with a glass of cava (local champagne). At the end of the demonstration you will be given jam's jar. Your next stop will be in Palafrugell to visit it daily market. This is one of the most popular and crowded in the region, placed in the middle of the town; it deserves going until Plaza Nova where are placed the fish market, the meat market and the fruit and vegetable's market. In the route's information you will find some recommendations of places to visit; and do not forget having an appetizer in a picturesque grocery shop of this town. Free lunch, in the itinerary we provide you, you will find some interesting proposals.
In the afternoon the visit will be in La Bisbal de l’Empordà. We will indicate you which are the shops of la Bisbal with authentic ceramics from the area; with a previous reservation you can visit the pottery studios. You should have a walk by its town center, where you will find some interesting establishments, one of them is a 80 years old cake shop, the one that the famous artist Salvador Dalí used to visit and said that its Chantilly cakes where the best in the world. Free dinner, you will have some recommendations on the route's book.
Day 4: Breakfast and check-out from the Rural House. The best way to finish this tour is on the coast. You will go to Calella de Palafrugell and Llafranc; two of the sailor villages most beautiful of the Catalan coast. You must go up until the Faro (lighthouse) de San Sebastian, where you will enjoy from magnificent views from all the seaside. You will have included a gastronomic menu in Calella de Palafrugell or Llafranc. You will enjoy in the same way both from the food and service, and views over the Mediterranean sea.
