5 day Southern Israel and Southern Jordan Excursion
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Travel with your licensed Israeli tour guide from Jerusalem and visit sites heading south and in areas of Negev - including traveling from Jerusalem into the Judean foothills in the west before traveling towards Arad; the areas of the Large Crater with its coloured sands and interesting geological formations and visiting the desert township of Yerucham and wondering what life is like for the people who live there. A visit to Sde Boker - its beauty and history as the Kibbutz where David Ben Gurion lived. Mitzpe Ramon on the edge of the crater like form of, Machtesh Ramon. Overnight in sde Boker, Mitzpe Ramon. Options for late afternoon /early evening camel ride and other activities that your guide will suggest.
Day 2: Tour In Machtesh Ramon with its amazing features, geological history. Afternoon travel to Eilat, as your guide explains the interesting desert landscapes and the wide range of communities in the area. After arriving in Eilat - a swim in the Sea or some other water based activities - introductory accompanied scuba dive, snorkle, swimming with the dolphins boat ride, banana ride. Then 3 day/2 overnights in Jordan; Wadi Rum and Petra travel adventure.
Day 3: An early morning crossing at the border crossing into Jordan and visit to the markets of Aqaba. Stories of the formation of the Hashemite Kingdom,stories of Lawrence of Arabia as you ride in open 4 x4 vehicles exploring the sand dunes of Wadi Rum. Search for the hidden spring to swim in and towards evening either go to one of the Bedouin camps or travel to Taibet Zamun - a restored village now operating as a 5* hotel. Jordan accommodation options include a range of Wadi Rum camping options, Petra hotels and the restored village of Taybet Zaman, now a 5 * hotel outside Petra.
Day 4: Today you will explore Petra in all its glory and hear about and see the remains of the ancient 2000 year old Nabatean desertt culture. An amazing site!! return to your Petra area hotel for dinner.
Day 5: Start your day early, traveling from the heights of Petra along the Jordan plateau in the direction of Arouer canyon with its thermal, hot spings and cool pools within the canyons, hanging gardens of vegetation and on to the Arava plain below, before heading back to Aqaba for a last humus and a crossing back to Israel. Options are to stay in Eilat or to fly with Israir or Arkia back to Tel Aviv.
