Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Quito
Transfer In. Pick up from the airport in private transportation. After a short 15 minute drive, we leave you in your Hotel. Overnight.
Day 2: Quito – Galapagos
Transfer out. After an early breakfast, we pick you up from your hotel and drive to the Quito airport. Here a representative of the agency will help you checking in. Flight to Galapagos form Quito to Baltra. At the airport in Baltra, you will meet up with our English speaking guide who will take us to the port of Puerto Ayora (Santa Cruz Island) for lunch. Afterwards, we will take the public speedboat to Isabela, which lasts approximately three and half hours. We will arrive to Hotel San Vicente Galapagos or similar. After a brief rest at the hotel, we will head to the Flamingo Lagoon, which is the largest coastal lagoon found in the Galapagos and is one of the main reproductive sites for the majority of flamingos. Hotel San Vicente Galapagos or similar. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 3: Galapagos
Early in the morning after breakfast, we will have a full day tour of the Sierra Negra Volcano. This volcano is located 13 miles from Puerto Villamil and is the world's second largest volcanic crater, measuring 6 miles in diameter and 300 feet deep. For this reason, we will be riding horses through the terrain. (We will also provide a boxed lunch). This special place Volcan Chico, in the afternoon, we will return to the hotel and later we will have the opportunity to snorkel in Concha Perla. Hotel San Vicente Galapagos or similar. Day 4: Galapagos
After breakfast we will go to the Giant Tortoise Breeding Center, where we will visit "The Wall of Tears". From 1946 to 1959, Isabela was designated a penal colony by the Ecuadorian government and prisoners were obligated to build a wall with enormous blocks of lava. Due to the arduous labour and harsh conditions in which the prisoners lived, this site is known as “El Muro de las Lagrimas”. Additionally, we will visit a small lava tunnel and another flamingo lagoon, and then we will return to the hotel to have lunch. Hotel San Vicente Galapagos or similar.
In the afternoon, we will sail to "Islote Tintoreras". It is called this due to a large crevice with very clear calm water in which white-tip sharks known as "tintoreras" come daily to rest on the bottom. We can also observe penguins, sea lions, and marine iguanas and go snorkeling with sharks as well as other colorful tropical fish while enjoying the beaches of Isabela. Day 5: Galapagos
Early in the morning and after breakfast, we will take the public speedboat to Puerto Ayora, where the guide will be waiting for us in order to check into the hotel. Immediately, we will begin our visit to the Highlands of Santa Cruz Island. Here we can enjoy a wonderful visit to see giant turtles in their natural habitat (video - 1.8MB). After lunch in the Highlands, we will return to Puerto Ayora and go to the Charles Darwin Research Station. Here we will have the grand opportunity to see Lonesome George, the last Galapagos turtle of its species. Crossman Hotel or similar. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 6: Galapagos – Quito
After breakfast, we will travel to Baltra Airport, but on the way we will stop by "The Twins" (a.k.a. “The Gemelos”), which are similar to craters, but formed by a collapse of the Earth because of the lava flows that passed below it. The tour will end upon the arrival to the airport where we will depart to Quito or Guayaquil. In Quito you will meet up with our English speaking guide who will take you in order to transfer to the hotel.
At night we begin our City by Night. (Aprox. 2 hrs.) We drive to the downtown of Quito. This part of the city still keeps the old flair of the past centuries, beautiful and classic little houses with balconies are common along the streets. We leave our car and walk to the Independence square, where we can enjoy looking at beautifully illuminated areas of the downtown, like the Independence square, Cathedral, the Jesuit Church of La Compañia de Jesus, and the San Francisco square. The Colonial Area of Quito, with the ancient arquitecture, is even more spectacular when the illumination emphasizes them. After than we continue our tour to the Panecillo, a small hill located in the center of the city, which allows us a 360º view of Quito. After enjoying breath- taking scenery, we drive back to our Hotel. Dinner and overnight. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 7: Quito – Lago Agrio – Tapir Lodge
Transfer Out to the airport. Here a representative of the agency will help you checking in. Flight to Lago Agrio. Our private transportation will drive us (2 ½ - 3 hours) to “El Puente” (The Bridge), which is the entrance to the Cuyabeno Reserve On “El Puente” we will enjoy our box lunches and continue our trip via motorized dugout-canoe. The luggage will be covered with plastic for protection, to prevent it from getting wet in the event of rain. We will arrive around dusk to the beautiful Tapir Lodge (05:00-06:00 PM). Dinner will be served at approximately 07:30 PM. Overnight spent in our cozy and relaxing lodge. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 8: Tapir Lodge
After a good night’s slumber, our day begins with a delicious breakfast, which is served at approximately 07:30 AM. At 08:30 AM we will meet at our pier and take our canoe, to navigate upstream to “Laguna Grande” (Big Lake) enjoying a slow ride in order to observe the surrounding Flora (orchids, bromeliads, Heliconias) and Fauna like (squirrel, black mantled tamarin, and Saki monkeys. Our travel time should be about 30 minutes once we get there, we will appreciate this one of a kind Iago or inundated forest. After completing the Iagoon excursion, we will travel to "Terra Firme" and begin a trek on a path called Palma Roja “Red Palm”; this path will be our first encounter with primary rainforest. Our return time should be around 01:30 PM, to take the canoe back to Tapir. Lunch. At 4:00 PM we will again meet at our pier, and take the canoe to a new area of “Laguna Grande, to enjoy spectacular sunset views. Once the evening activities are concluded, we will return to Tapir around 07:00 PM. Overnight spent at Tapir Lodge. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 9: Tapir Lodge
Breakfasts at 07:30 AM. Today we will travel downstream the Cuyabeno River. On our way we will observe different kind of birds (toucans, macaws, kingfishers, Oropendolas) following the river; we will stop at a small Indian settlement. There will have the opportunity to visit and meet Alberto the local Shaman, as well as his family. After spending some time with this people, we say goodbye to Alberto and his family (about 03:00 PM) and navigate back to the Puerto Bolivar village, where we will be greeted by a local Siona family, and take part in the preparation of Cassava Bread. The Yuca (Cassava) Root. Again we take our dugout and navigate back to Tapir arriving just before dusk. Dinner will be served at around 08:00 PM. Overnight spent at Tapir. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 10: Tapir Lodge
On this day, guests will have the option to choose their activities with the guide, ranging from bird watching, canoeing, fishing, or hiking tours in the rainforest. Lunch will be served at Tapir. In the afternoon our guests can enjoy some leisure time and enjoy the last Sunset over the lake, so as the navigation inside the flooded forest. Dinner will be served at around 08:00 PM. After dinner we will serve and enjoy a farewell Passion Fruit Cocktail, as we take a little time to introduce our hard working staff. Overnight spent at Tapir. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 11: Tapir Lodge – Lago Agrio – Quito
Breakfasts will be served at 08:00 AM. After breakfast we will coordinate and schedule your departure from Tapir. We will leave Tapir Lodge at 9:30, and make our way back to the bridge. From there, our private transportation will drive us back to Lago Agrio, in time to get the flight back to Quito. Transfer In to your Hotel. Farewell Dinner in a typical Ecuadorian Restaurant. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 12: Quito. Transfer back to the airport. End of our services. Includes: (B).
