This tour consists of two parts. The first leg of the trip begins with excursion in Lhasa visiting the Potala palace, Jokhang, Sera and Drepung Monasteries. After Lhasa we drive to Tingri via Gyantse, Shigatse and Sakya, visiting all the popular monasteries along the way. The second pare of the trip will be the Mt.Everest Base Camp Trek from Tingri on the friendship Highway, it is relatively easy to access. The walk is not particularly strenuous- only one low pass must be crossed. Near the Base Camp is the reconstructed monastery of Rongbuk, once one of the largest monastic complexes in the region. The view from here of the Everest North face, perhaps is the most dramatic of tall its sides, is unforgettable.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Kathmandu Lhasa (3650m.) Fly on Air China flight to Lhasa. Upon arrival at Gonggar Airport, You shall be met by your Tibetan Guide and transfer provided to Lhasa city. O/nts. at Hotel Lhasa.
Days 2-3: Lhasa sightseeing tour. Visit the Potala & Norbulinka Palace, Drepung & Sera monastery, Jokhang Temple & Barkhor Bazaar O/nt. at Hotel Lhasa.
Day 4: Lhasa to Gyantse (3650m.)-259/kms. Drive to Gyantse crossing The Kamba La (4794m.) & Karo La (5010m.) Pass via The Lake Yamdrok-Tso. O/nt at Hotel. ( Gyantse Hotel) Best Hotel.
Day 5: Gyantse to Shigatse (3900m.)-90/kms. AM:Visit The Khumbum Stupa & Phalkor Monastery at Gyantse. Embark on a pleasant 2 hrs. drive to Shigatse. PM: Sightseeing Tour of the Tashilunpo Monastery and the free Tibetan market. O/nt. at Hotel. ( Hotel Manasarova) Best Hotel.
Day 6: Shigatse to Xegar(3900m.)-244/kms. Drive to (Approx. 8hrs.) Xegar, O/nt. at Guest House.( Everest Hotel) Best Hotel.
Day 7: Xegar to Rongphu(4920m.)-60/kms. Drive over rocky terrain on 4-WD by Landcruiser/s to the village of Dza Rongphu. O/nt. at Rongphu Lodge.( Rongbuk Hotel) Best Hotel.
Day 8: Everest base camp excursion (5090m.). A 2 hrs. trek from The Rongbuk Monastery will lead you to the base of the highest peak on earth The North Face of Mount Everest (8848m.) Or Mount Quomolangma in Tibetan. Explore the base camp and The Ronghu Glacier. Retreat to lodge. Later in the afternoon, return to Tingri (approx 96 kms/ 3hrs). Day 9: Tingri to Nyalam (3750m.)-214/kms. Drive downhill to Nyalam crossing two spectacular passes- The Lalung La (5082m.) & Nyalamu (3800m.) Pass. O/nt. at Hotel ( Snowland Hotel / Zhangmu Hotel) Best Hotel.
Day 10: Nyalamu to Kathmandu(1200m.)-123/kms. Drive downhill to Zhangmu and to The Friendship Bridge where transportation awaits for the Groups final journey to Kathmandu.
Destination: Nyalam, Tingri, Mt.Everest.
