Leaving Nairobi behind we cut through the Great Rift Valley's floor past the tea zones of Kericho and Kisii and then to the shoreline of Lake Victoria in Homabay. Once here we will visit Ruma National Park for its unusual and very rare game namely; Oribi, Jackson 's Hartebeest and Roan Antelope among others.

We will also explore the remote but colorful fishing beaches of Rusinga Island before crossing the lake by ferry then drive on to Alego. Alego is the place where everyone smiles and it is also the land where Illinois 's Senator Barrack Obama has his father's roots. Did I say Alego? Yes! We will have three days here for exploring as well as submerging ourselves in the cultural lifestyles of Luos. We will cross the equator as we enter the equatorial rainforest of Kakamega where the Luhya tribe does coexist in harmony with the forest flora and fauna. This gives us a chance to watch birds, primates, butterflies and also to study herbal medicine. Down in Naivasha walking, cycling and night game drives awaits us before we finish this tour in Nairobi.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Leave Nairobi at 0630 hours for a long drive across the Rift valley on our way to Ruma national park. This park is known for its rare game as well as the Blue Swallow, a migrant bird from South Africa. After dinner, an overnight stay at the camp.

Day 2: We will have an early breakfast before having a game drive in the park before moving to the shoreline of Lake Victoria arriving here in time for lunch. After lunch we will enjoy the afternoon while doing boating as we explore the fishing beaches of Rusinga Island. Dinner and overnight stay is at the camp.

Day 3: This morning we will enjoy a sunrise boat cruise birding as we also sample fishing beaches of Lake Victoria. Back for our breakfast then leave the camp and board a ferry for a drive across Lake Victoria. Upon arrival on the mainland, we drive to Alego through Bondo, for a home-stay. Traditional food and accommodation in the village.

Day 4: We will leave the village for Lake Kanyaboli and also do our birding excursion in search of the papyrus endemics and the biome restricted species of this region. Dinner and overnight in Siaya or Bondo.

Day 5: After an early breakfast, we will leave Alego for Kakamega forest stopping en route at the equator. We arrive here in time for lunch after which we visit a Luhya homestead for a cultural quest. Back to the camp for dinner and an overnight.

Day 6: Breakfast will be early this morning followed by a walking excursion in the forest in search of its array of birds, butterflies and monkey species. Back in the afternoon for a rest as you update your safari journal. Dinner and an overnight at the camp.

Day 7: Leave Kakamega forest in the morning after breakfast for Lake Nakuru arriving in the afternoon a late game drive before retiring for dinner and the overnight stay.

Day 8: Today we will be started early for birding in the park and then go back to the camp for breakfast. We shall then do our final birding on our way to Nairobi stopping at Lake Elementaita for some little birding. We will then move on to Nairobi arriving here in the evening where this tour ends.
