Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival in Sofia – City Tour of Sofia.
Arrival in Sofia. Transfer and accommodation at 3* hotel, centrally located. Half day sightseeing tour of Sofia with visits of The Crypt of St. Alexander Nevski Cathedral, the National museum of history and Boyana Church, dated 1259, known for its 13th century murals, famous for their exceptional realism. Dinner & folklore show in a typical Bulgarian restaurant. Overnight.
Day 2: Sofia – Rila Monastery - Melnik.
Breakfast. Transfer to the town of Sandanski. On the way stop over for visiting of the Rila Monastery, picturesque located in the heart of Rila Mountains. It is the most famous monument of Bulgarian culture from the National Revival period. Visit of the monastery complex and museum. The road proceeds to the wine cellar Damianitza near the town of Melnik – Western region, where the famous Melnik red and white wine has been produced. A visit of vineyards in the Melnik region and the oldest underground cellar, dug straight into the sandstone. Lunch at typical style Melnik house. Accommodation at 3* hotel in the town of Melnik. Dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Melnik – Brestovitza - Plovdiv.
Breakfast. Transfer to the Brestovitza winery near Plovdiv (15 km). Here you will spend unforgettable moments close to the nature and surrounded by genuine red wines. In the unique atmosphere of the wine tasting hall you are expected by wine tasting with appropriate appetizers; tour around the cellar accompanied by lecture on the varietals; myths and legends; wine producing technologies and methods of wine storage. The cellar is specialized in producing of selected red wines in boutique series – merlot”, “Mavrud” and “Cabernet Sauvignon”. Lunch and folklore program at cellar’s tavern. Transfer to the town of Plovdiv. Accommodation at the 4* hotel. Dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Plovdiv – Sofia.
Breakfast. City tour of Plovdiv - the capital city of the Thracian lowland - with visiting of the Ethnographical museum and the Roman amphitheater. Lunch at local restaurant in the old town. Transfer to Sofia and accommodation at the hotel. Dinner at specialized enoteca restaurant - an excellent selection of wine and Bulgarian cuisine.
Day 5: Departure.
Breakfast. Free at leisure or optional – visit of shops to buy wine. Transfer to Sofia Airport for the flight home.
