Considered one of the ten "mega-diversity" countries of the world, Brazil is a dream destination for any naturalist. On this incredible tour we will explore two of this country’s most celebrated and awe-inspiring ecosystems, the verdant Amazon rainforest, replete with a diversity of life rivaled nowhere else on our planet and the bountiful Pantanal, where the incredible wildlife viewing compares with the African savannas.
Heralding this wonderful adventure is our stay in the Amazon Rainforest where we will spend time exploring the towering forests of one of the Earth’s most diverse ecosystems. We have selected one of the best areas for wildlife viewing where 20 km of well maintained trails pass through a variety of habitats exposing us to the wonders and mystery of this giant ecosystem.

In addition, a high platform will afford us an intimate encounter with the hidden world of the forest canopy. Not the harsh and fearsome place of story books, the fabled Amazon is a rich and rewarding place to experience the delights of rainforest ecology. The wonderful mammal diversity of this area is complemented by 550 bird species, over 2,000 species of butterfly and a kaleidoscope of colorful frogs. In stark contrast to the towering forests of the Amazon are the vast open spaces and breathtaking vistas of the Pantanal. The Pantanal is the planet’s largest wetland and is home to some of the most spectacular concentrations of wildlife on Earth. A seemingly endless mix of backwaters, lakes, rivers, gallery forests, and forested islands; this immensely diverse ecosystem supports in excess of 600 fish species, 650 bird species and a staggering 200 species of mammals! Here, given the endless open vistas, finding mammals here is somewhat easier than in the Amazon and we will enjoy a combination of activities to make the most of this spectacular region.

Your journey with us through Brazil has been perfectly crafted to provide you with a once-in-a-lifetime neotropical mammal viewing experience. Our perfect combination of the mighty Amazon and the vast Pantanal is one of our finest “ultimate mammal voyages” and cannot come more highly recommended. Those lucky enough to have time in hand for the extension to Emas National Park will not be disappointed, this wildlife jewel is a magnificent grassland covering an impressive 132 000 hectares and showcasing the best example of Campo Cerrado or Brazilian Savanna. Adding this to your itinerary provides you with the best chances for Maned Wolf, Giant Armadillo, Giant Anteater and Puma along with a host of bird species and other fauna and flora to complement your stay.
