Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Leave Johannesburg or Pretoria in an air-conditioned microbus with an experienced Kruger Park guide. Travel east across the Highveld farmlands and down the beautiful Elands Valley to Nelspruit - center of our finest citrus farms. Continue to the entrance of Kruger Park when our guide will introduce you to this famous wildlife sanctuary before a lunch break. Prepare your cameras / videos and spend the afternoon on your first exciting game drive looking for herds of elephant, giraffe and antelope. Before sunset arrive at your Rest Camp and book into an air-conditioned chalet with shower / toilet and screens to prevent insects. Enjoy dinner in the privatized restaurant.
Day 2: Leave camp at dawn for an early morning game drive to look for lions and other Big Five species ( lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo ) followed by breakfast. Continue to a waterhole to see hippos dozing in the water and crocodiles lying on the bank , then return to camp for siesta or perhaps a refreshing swim. Later, board the National Parks open safari vehicle for an evening game drive ( duration 3 hours ) when you can see the beautiful sunset and then using spotlights, search for hyena and other nocturnal species. Dinner and overnight at your Rest Camp.
Day 3: Depart on another memorable early morning game drive to look for those elusive animals you might have missed such as leopard in the rocky outcrops. Breakfast before leaving the Park and then enjoy a scenic drive via God's Window, 3 Rondavels in Blyde River Canyon and the Valley of the Olifants. Arrive at a Private Safari Lodge by mid-afternoon and book into an en suite chalet/lodge room with ceiling fan and insect screens. Approx 16.30 board the open safari vehicle for an evening game drive stopping en route for "sundowners". Return to the lodge for dinner usually served around a campfire under the starlit sky. Overnight listening to lion or other nocturnal animals.
Day 4: Early wake-up call followed by coffee and homemade rusks. Join the armed ranger on a morning game drive and / or bush walk to learn about the smaller creatures including birds, insects and lizards. Return to the lodge and freshen-up before a delicious breakfast then take some final photos in the African bush. Depart for a relaxing homeward journey through the farmlands and trout fishing areas of Dullstroom. Stop for refreshments and then proceed to Johannesburg Airport by approximately 16.30 for onward flights or continue to your hotel or Waybury House.
General Information
* It is advisable to take precautions against malaria ( especially during the rainy season from October to early May ) which include protective clothing, insect repellent & if you wish to use medication – Malarone tablets are the best for Kruger Park so consult your pharmacist.
* We suggest you bring sunglasses, a small hat,swimsuit, comfortable shoes, a camera, torch / flashlight, light casual clothes and a warm jacket for night drives.
* A policy of "no smoking" and rotation of seats in the microbus is required.
* Gratuities to driver / guide, waiters and porters are not included.
