Dunedin was settled in the Victorian / Edwardian period, together with it's Scottish heritage. Dunedin is widely regarded as the best preserved Victorian / Edwardian heritage city in the southern hemisphere.

It is home to some New Zealand's top fashion designers, vibrant cafes and bars. The University of Otago, New Zealand's oldest and most prominent University, tolls the hours for the lively students who make up almost a fifth of the city's population. Dunedin, is renowned for the world's only mainland albatross (Royal) breeding colony at Taiaroa Head and various other ocean bird, seal and penguin species, including one of the world's rarest, the yellow eyed penguin.

This morning we travel out to the Royal Albatross and Yellow Eyed Penguin colonies at Tairoa Head, we then take in the city sights of Dunedin. From Pukerangi we can enjoy the beauty that is central Otago, passing through some of the small rural communities on the way to Queenstown.

Day 4: Queenstown- Milford Sound - Queenstown.
Today we will visit Milford Sound. The Milford sound attraction is one of the most spectacular places to visit in NZ, it is number one of the 101 things you must see on a visit to NZ. This excursion is very weather dependent and can be enjoyed in a number of ways, but because of the high probability that flights may not operate we have included a drive into the beautiful Fiordland National Park to the wharf and a return by the same route. Options to fly into/out of Milford, we will book these once in the resort when weather conditions can be assessed.

We start today with a sightseeing excursion of the Wakatipu. Then travel to Christchurch via the Mount Cook National Park. Mount Cook is the tallest peak in the southern hemisphere on a clear day it is advised to take a flight over the National Park. After some time to take in the splendor of the National Park, we will make our way across the Mackenzie basin then onto the Canterbury plains to Christchurch.
