We will enrich your tour with engaging stories of the history, characters and events giving you a lasting impression of Christchurch.
* City Highlights.
Enjoy an array of the city sights as we start with the architectural splendor and history of Cathedral Square. As we leave Cathedral Square we pass by the monument to New Zealand's sufferaget, Kate Sheppard who won women the right to vote in a general election. Learn about the Edmond's family; see their gifted legacies to the city. We then pass by the Band Rotunda, Telephone Cabinet and Clock Tower along Poplar lane, before stopping at the Firefighter’s Reserve to photograph the sculptured memorial to 9/11.
View the Christchurch Town Hall beside Christchurch’s old market region now known as Victoria Square, take time to enjoy the Floral Clock and Bowker Fountain. See many notable buildings and historical monuments as we drive through the old provincial precinct.
* Garden City.
Any tour of Christchurch would not be complete without viewing the Botanical Gardens, the jewel in the crown of the Garden City; the internationally renowned gardens are set within one of the world’s largest city parks. Bordering the gardens is the Canterbury Museum, designed in the architecture of Victorian Gothic also in this style are the Art Centre buildings which are now the cultural hub of the city. We now make our way to new contemporary styled modern Art Gallery.
We will then drive through some of the affluent real estate of the city on our journey to the elegant English styled gardens and historic Victorian homestead of Mona Vale.
* Sign Of Takahe.
Leaving the city center we visit the Port Hills and one of Christchurch’s iconic buildings the Sign of The Takahe, to enjoy the panoramic view of the city and Canterbury plains. Returning to the heart of the city we view the willow lined riverside and inner city war memorial the Bridge of Remembrance. The tour concludes with a return to your City Accommodation.
