Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: For those arriving early there is an option visit to the famous Dias Museum, either with a guide or at your own pace. There after you will visit the famous Khoi-San Cave. Late afternoon arrivals will be any time after 14:00. On arrival, check- in and explore Mossel Bay. At 18:00 you will be met by Fred, your host at the Guest House and enjoy Welcome Drinks. Fred will discuss the Program for the duration of your stay. Enjoy real South African hospitality during Dinner.

Accommodation for the evening will be at Point Village Guest House. The Luxury Guest House, situated in Mossel Bay, has a warm, relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Ideally located in the historic Point Village, 60 m from the sea and tidal pool with sea views from balconies. Rooms are cosy and comfy with a luxury Honeymoon Penthouse. Heated pool, open-plan living area with DVD, VHS and satellite TV. Excellent golf courses nearby.

Day 2: 15km. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast on the waters edge. Today starts with an amble along a magnificent and unspoilt beach. The coastal hike will take you along cliffs and contour paths to Dana Bay. You will see how the Black Oystercatcher feeds and where she lays her eggs. Along the way you can visit caves, swim and watch dolphins and whales (in winter July - October) from the shore. Dinner will be enjoyed at Guest House. After dinner an expert will Talk on the habits of the Black Oystercatcher.

Accommodation for the evening will in Dana Bay in Bokmakerie Guest House boasting some stunning views. Bokmakierie is the name of a bird found in abundance in the nature conservancy of Dana Bay - Mossel Bay. The Guest House has a spectacular 180 degree view of the Indian Ocean, the Kloof (valley) and surrounding Mountains, covered in unique coastal fynbos. From this vantage point you can watch not only the dolphins and whales( June - October), but also wild life such as Bushbuck and Greybuck, seen frequently in this area. Hordes of pheasants and numerous birds species including the Jackal Buzzards.

Day 3: 12km. After breakfast you will do a beach hike to Boggomsbaai. Along the way identify the Oystercatchers nest, eggs and chicks. Visit middens. Welcome snacks and drinks will be served upon your arrival at the Sandpiper Guest Cottages. This will be your base for the evening. The interiors consist of Yellowwood and Oregon Pine Furniture. Red clay tile flooring and comfortable bedding will make you feel right at home. All cottages are fully equipped and have CD-players, mini-bars, microwaves, laundry facilities, hairdryers and television sets.

To top it all off every cottage has a large indoor fireplace to braai South African style or just to sit around at night and drink a toast to this paradise of peace. Tonight you will enjoy a candle lit dinner in the little piece of heaven. Boggomsbaai is uncommercialised.

Day 4: 15km. After breakfast depart on a beach and rocky coastal walk to the Historical Fransmanshoek. A light beach lunch awaits you and afterwards continue hike along the coast to Kanon Village. Meander along Kanon Beach and the foot of massively high dunes to Cape Vacca Fisherman`s Cottage. You can overnight here at Cape Vacca or be transported back to Sandpiper Guest Cottages. (Options subject to availability.) Enjoy our famous candle lit sea food feast or a fish braai (barbeque style), while relaxing in front of a real old Cape Fireplace. Tonight you will sleep at the edge of the Indian Ocean.

Day 5: 5km. A real South African "Boere ontbyd" (farmers breakfast) will prepare you for your final day. Depart from Kanon on a short hike to the Gourits River. Take a boat trip upriver for Fish Eagle spotting. River swimming optional. A champagne brunch on River bank is always welcome, after which you will be transported back to Mossel Bay

Note:

- Fitness Level. The fitness level requirement for this Trail is not that high. We rate the hike at about 6 out of 10. Please remember that we walk as fast as the slowest person in the group. Walking on sand of course can be tiring, especially on the calf muscles, if done at high tide.

- The oldest to complete the hike is 76 and the youngest was 6 years old.

- Distances are between 12 and 15 km`s per day. This is normally completed in about 6 hours.It could however be done in 4 for fitter groups.
