Join us for a day of wine tasting in the world-renowned Paarl and Stellenbosch wine lands where according to wine maker, Hugh Johnson, "wine is made in no more beautiful place on earth." We leave the southern peninsula and make our way North to Paarl, the home of the Afrikaans language. View the Language monument as we drive into our first vineyard, which is part of the renowned KWV stable. Here we will have an informal wine tasting admiring the granite rock that overlooks the vineyard.
After this we take a slow drive through Paarl while we give you a short history of the town on our way to Nederburg. At Nederburg you will have a cellar tour where the more technical side as well as the art of wine making will be explained in greater detail. After the cellar tour you will be taken back to the tasting hall and taste the wines that you saw in the barrels. From Nederburg we drive due east to the foothills of the Groot Drakenstein (the big dragon) mountain. The wine farm we visit here has a small, but exquisite collection available for tasting.
Leaving this area we make our way towards Stellenbosch and have lunch overlooking the valley and spectacular mountain views. After lunch we will travel through Stellenbosch to Neethlingshof a wine farm that offers tasting from both their wines and their sister farm. When finished at Neethlingshof we take a slow drive back to the southern peninsula along the coastal route but not before stopping at Spier where a unique Cheetah breeding program is situated. Here you have the chance to enter the Cheetah enclosure and interact with them for a donation to the cheetah fund. Taste and do not worry about drinking and driving.
