EXTENDED TOUR - ITINERARY:

Days 1-2: International air travel, arrival in Cairo, transfer to Aswan. Sunset sail on the Nile and an evening meal by the river’s edge.

Day 3: Sail the Nile, visit the ancient inscriptions at Sehel Island, a quiet walk in the souk, and an evening meal at a local restaurant in the heart of the markets.

Day 4: Visit to Nobles' Tombs at Qubbet el-Hawa, then to Kitchener’s Island. Sound and Light show at Philae in the early evening.

Day 5: Visit Elephantine Island (Nubian villages, archaeological site of Abu, Aswan Museum) and get to meet the local people and share a meal with them.

Day 6: Visits to the temples of Philae and Kalabsha on their respective islands. An evening meal at the ‘Pizzeria La Luna’, and preparation for our trip to Abu Simbel.

Day 7: Abu Simbel: the Great Temples of Ramesses II and Hathor-Nefertari.

Day 8: Visits to the Unfinished Obelisk and the Nubian Museum. Sail to the West Bank for camel rides to St Simeon’s Monastery. High Tea at the Old Cataract Hotel at sunset.

Day 9: Rest Day.

Day 10: We begin our sail towards Kom Ombo with an evening party on the banks of the Nile.

Day 11: Felucca sailing from Aswan heading north towards Kom Ombo. Visit the Temple at Kom Ombo.

Day 12: Bus to Luxor, stopping at the Temple of Horus at Edfu en route.

Day 13: West Bank (I): the Colossi of Memnon, the Valley of the Kings (eg. Tomb of Tutankhamun), and Luxor Temple in the evening.

Day 14: Luxor Museum (morning) and Luxor Temple (afternoon).

Day 15: Karnak Temple during the day, and return for Sound and Light in the evening.

Day 16: West Bank (II) Valley of the Queens, Sanctuary of Meretseger and Ptah, Workers’ village at Deir el-Medina, and Medinat Habu.

Day 17: West Bank (III): Deir el Bahri (Temple of Hatshepsut), the Ramesseum (Temple of Ramesses II), and the Temple of Seti I.

Day 18: Rest Day.

Day 19: Abydos (Temples of Seti I & Ramesses II) and Dendarah (the Temple of Hathor).

Day 20: West Bank (IV): Temple of Merneptah and the Tomb of Ay in the Western Valley. Free time for the rest of the afternoon.

Day 21: West Bank (V): The Tombs of Roy and Shuroy, as well as the other Nobles Tombs(Rekhmire, Nakht, Menna, Sennefer and Ramose etc).

Day 22: Transfer from Luxor to Cairo, explore the area around our hotel in the centre of the city. Introduction to shopping in Cairo.

Day 23: Pyramids (I): Meidum and Dashur pyramids.

Day 24: Pyramids (II): Saqqarah and Memphis.

Day 25: The Citadel and Islamic Cairo (including the Souk el-Fustat and the Khan-al-Khalili Bazaar), and watch the al-Tannoura Heritage Dance troupe.

Day 26: Pyramids (III): Giza! The Great Sphinx, Great Pyramid of Khufu, Pyramids of Khafre and Menkhare, the Solar Boat Museum etc. Return for the Giza Sound and Light in the early evening.

Day 27: The Egyptian Museum and an evening farewell party.

Days 28-29: International flights ex-Cairo.

TWO WEEK TOUR ITINERARY:

Day 1: International flights to Cairo.

Day 2: Arrive Cairo/transfer for flight to Aswan/arrive Aswan. Check-in, rest and a quiet sail on the Nile. Evening meal on the Nile's bank.

Day 3: Visit to the Nobles' Tombs at Qubbet el-Hawa, then to the ancient archaeological site of Abu. Get to meet the local people and share an evening meal with them at a local house.

Day 4: Visit to the Unfinished Obelisk and the Nubian Museum. A late afternoon introduction to the local souk, with an evening visit to the Sound & Light show at Philae.

Day 5: Visits to the temple of Philae. Free time in afternoon prior to High Tea at the Old Cataract Hotel. An evening meal at the 'Pizzeria la Luna'.

Day 6: Abu Simbel: the Great Temples of Ramesses II and Hathor-Nefertari.

Day 7: Transfer to Luxor by bus, via the convoy system, stopping at the Temples of Kom Ombo and Edfu en route.

Day 8: West Bank (I): the 'Colossi of Memnon', Valley of the Kings (eg. Tombs of Tutankhamun and Tuthmosis III), and Luxor Temple in the evening.

Day 9: Explore Karnak Temple in the morning, followed by Luxor Museum in the afternoon. Sound & Light show at Karnak Temple is an optional extra for the evening.

Day 10: Rest Day.

Day 11: West Bank (II): Deir el-Bahri, then the Ramesseum and the Temple of Medinat Habu.

Day 12: West Bank (III): Deir el-Medina and then a visit to the Nobles Tombs at Qurna.

Day 13: Transfer to Cairo and a visit to the Egyptian Museum.

Day 14: Pyramids (I): Dashur (Red & Bent Pyramids) and a visit to Saqqarah.

Day 15: Pyramids (II): Giza in the morning and then off to the Khan-al-Khalili Bazaar. An optional extra is the Sound & Light Show at Giza in the evening.

Days 16 & 17: International flights ex-Cairo.
