Meet at the Centre for an orientation session that includes a Centre tour and a brief look behind the scenes. There will be a 20 minute interpretive drive to the dig site in the CFDC Paleo Van. To There may be a 15 minute hike up the slope of the famous Manitoba Escarpment to get to a dig site. We may also be digging in the summer heat so we requre paticipants to be prepared. Wear a good pair of hiking/walking shoes and bring with sunscreen, a hat, insect repellent, and a full water bottle. Participants will be shown how to use the supplied excavation tools and given the opportunity to search for and excavate real follils on an 80 million year old sea bed.
Tour Itinerary:
- 8:30 am/ 1:00 pm - Meet at our center.
- 8:30 – 9:30 am/ 1:00 – 2:00 pm - Tour of the Center, Collections Room and Laboratory.
- 9:30 – 10:00 am/ 2:00 – 2:30 pm - Drive to the Dig Site with our van.
- 10:00 – 10:30 am/ 2:30 – 3:00 pm - Review and Discuss Field Techniques.
- 10:30 am – 12:00 pm/ 3:00 – 4:30 pm - Dig/ Excavate.
- 12:00 – 12:30 pm/ 4:30 – 5:00 pm - Drive back to Morden.
