Certainly the most demanding of our tours. It spans across 2 countries, Austria and Italy; explore the most amazing part of the Alps, the Dolomites, with their mountains which look like sculptures; crosses mountain passes above 2000 meters with leg-breaking climbs and breathtaking descents; then leaves the Alps to enter a softer land of hills and vineyards among which sumptuous villas hide superb frescoes only to end in Venice, one of the most famous town of Europe.

The trip starts in Salzburg, a lovely town in a superb pre-alpine setting. Located on the banks of the Salzach river, at the northern boundary of the Alps, the mountains to the south make a striking contrast with the rolling plains to the north. The altstadt, or "old town", is dominated by its baroque buildings among which the towering Salzburg cathedral and the Mirabell Garden. The fortress is much older and was constructed in 1077 . The composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born and raised in Salzburg. His house of birth and residence are popular tourist attractions.

Großglockner is, at 3798 m above sea level, Austria's highest mountain. The Pasterze, Austria's biggest glacier lies at Großglockner's foot. Also famous is the scenic road between Heiligenblut and Fusch, built between 1930 and 1935, which reaches 2572 m. Experience a spectacular cycling through the landscapes of Northern Italy's awesome Dolomiti Mountains. Choose your own comfortable pace as you challenge the most historic switchback climbs of the Giro d'Italia including the fearsome Pordoi and SellaPasso.

Ride in the shadows of jagged pink granite peaks while enjoying deluxe country inns and world-class Italian cuisine. Down from the high mountains into softer land: vineyards covered hills, sumptuous venetian villas, with frescoes by famous painters, typical villages with friendly market squares, and beautiful abbeys.

Airfare is not included in the tour price.
