Grey wolves and grizzly bears still roam free as they have for centuries, and with no roads leading into the Park, human encroachment is limited to the fringe.
Austin-Lehman's 6-day Best of the Northwest Washington adventure follows the Cascades Scenic Loop, a 400-mile stretch of highway circling the heart of Washington from the waters of Puget Sound across the Cascade Mountains into the high desert climate of the Columbia River Valley. Hike and bike along wildflower-strewn trails and into sub-alpine zone, soaking up jaw-dropping views. Explore the Bavarian village of Leavenworth and the quaint streets of Winthrop. Night 1: Mountain Home Lodge.
Nestled on a secluded 20-acre meadow overlooking the Cascades and surrounded by forest, this luxurious 12 guest room lodge and cabins offers superb cuisine, year-round variety of outdoor activities and total pampered relaxation.
Nights 2 - 3: Sun Mountain Lodge.

Night 4: Buffalo Run Inn.
In 1889 a house composed entirely of logs was constructed. It was an awesome project, as the logs used in this structure were 9 inches thick, 18 inches in height and measured up to 30 feet long. A team of oxen was used to sled the logs to the crossroads of Marblemount. The structure was named the "Log House Inn" and was a meeting place for gold miners and pack mule train drivers heading up the Skagit River. There have been several additions added to the main structure over the years and recently it has been used as a restaurant and cocktail lounge. Today the building is being remodeled back into an inn and is now called the Buffalo Run Inn.
Night 5: Edgewater Hotel.
The shimmering city is behind you. Beautiful Elliott Bay is right at your feet. The Edgewater is Seattle’s only waterfront hotel, located right on Pier 67 at the city’s dynamic doorstep with dramatic views of Elliott Bay, the Olympic Mountains and the downtown skyline.
