Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrive Kota Kinabalu. Arrive Kota Kinabalu and transfer to BKI hotel.
Day 2: Kota Kinabalu to Kudat. Depart early morning for a 2 ½ hours journey to Kudat, the land of the last long houses in Sabah. After lunch, we set off our journey to the "Tip of Borneo". Witness the picturesque view of South China Sea meeting Sulu Sea. Proceed to our overnight guest house for check in. If weather permits, cycle (optional) through scenic villages, oil palm estates and farms to Mompilis Village Longhouse. Enjoy fresh coconut drink and witness cultural activities while mingling with the friendly local folks and children. Note: Optional cycling is only available for adult.
Return to long house home stay for shower. Enjoy a traditional-style dinner followed by colorful cultural performance by the local Rungus community. Overnight in twin share room. Mattress and mosquito net are provided. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 3: Kudat – Kinabalu Park. Wake up to the calls of roosters and enjoy the tranquility of the village. Take your breakfast before we trek to the nearby rubber estate. Test your skill at rubber tapping. Proceed to Kinabalu Park.Visit Education Center and explore Mountain Garden of Kinabalu Park, home to various species of the flowering rhododendrons, carnivorous pitcher plants, orchids, ferns, oak trees and birds. Overnight at Fairy Garden. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 4: Mount Kinabalu (Pendant Hut – via Ferrata package). Depart to Park Headquarters and meet your mountain guide. After registration, ascent Mt. Kinabalu via Timpohon Trail to Laban Rata. Check into Pendant hut and meet via ferrata trainer. Via feratta familiarization before dinner. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 5: Mount Kinabalu – Sandakan (Overland). After breakfast, hike up to Low's peak with mountain guide (optional). Return to base, join Walk the Torq, an initiation for those who want to build their confidence in via ferrata climbing. Return to Pendant Hut, pack and descent Mt. Kinabalu. Return to Kinabalu park and continue journey overland to Sandakan. Overnight at Sabah hotel. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 6: Sandakan to Selingan – by boat. Pick up from hotel and transfer to jetty and for approximately 1 hour boat ride by speedboat to Selingan Island (40km). Check into chalet. Free at leisure to explore island, swim and snorkel. After dinner, wait for signal from the Park Ranger before we proceed in small groups to watch Green Turtle lay eggs on the beach, transplanting of eggs to hatchery and release of baby turtles to the sea. This island is a park conservation area since 1977 and turtles have been nesting here every night throughout the year. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 7: Selingan to Sukau – by boat. Return to Sandakan by boat and proceed to Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Center for video show. Trek ten minutes through the rain forest on wooden plank walks to witness the feeding of the orangutans at 1000hrs.Continue to Sandakan jetty for boat journey to Sukau Rain forest Lodge along Sabah's longest river, Kinabatangan with opportunity to view birds and wildlife in virgin mangrove, wetland and rain forest habitats. Late afternoon take a river cruise using electric motor in search of some of the 10 primate species including Proboscis monkeys as they settle down on treetops along the Kinabatangan River. Return for solar heated hot shower, candle light dinner and slide show conducted by naturalist guide. Overnight at Sukau Rain forest Lodge. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 8: Depart Sandakan. After breakfast, return to Sandakan by boat journey. Have lunch before we proceed for a short tour of Sandakan town including the Australian War Memorial. Transfer to airport for late afternoon flight to Kota Kinabalu. Includes: (B), (L).
