Kunisaki Japan has been a center of Buddhist and Shinto activities for a thousand years, and now you may participate in a tour the likes of which has never been offered before. Generally speaking, this is an arts and cultural tour, but it is hands-on. The two main classes are carving and/or pottery. You may choose one or both! There are also classes in ink and calligraphy, Karate, cooking and traditional skills of various sorts. Although there is no obligation, it is also a great chance to refine your Japanese language skills.
The potter uses an ancient type of "no-bori-gamma" kiln that rises in several levels and is fired by wood. The carver is Mr.Sato, famous in southern Japan for his skill and mastery in both stone and wood. Usual duration of stay is 7 to 10 days, but that depends on you life-obligations, and obligation you have.
There plenty of other activities, from wilderness hiking, bike rides, stay at a temple, local fishing, canoing and more. There is a hot spring villa nearby, and local shopping a short bike-ride away (bikes provided) You will have an English-speaking hosts and guide. There is transportation available at any time, and we are flexible with schedules.
Unlike many tours, this isn't a whirl-wind of cities and temples. You unpack and stay in the comfort of Sato's grand Gallery and Guest house. You get to know a place in Japan, well enough to call it home. For schools or organized tours, we may expand to other accommodations, and discounts for groups are available.
The Kunisaki area has a superb variety of attractions, and numerous local festivals. No matter what adventure you are looking for, or what age, The Master's Tour has something for you.
