Tour Itinerary:
Day 1, Monday, September 29th: Arrive at Glasgow airport and you are met by tour director and coach/driver and we head east to St Andrews, where we have some free time to explore this historical Home of Golf, inc. a visit to the Historical ruined St Andrews castle and the St Andrews cathedral, with lunch at the Links Trust Clubhouse (inc.), before we head to the Old Course Practice range and have fun hitting balls at the range, with the views of the Old Course 18th Hole in the distance. Check into our hotel for the next two evenings. Welcome dinner inc. Overnight St. Andrews. Includes: (L), (D).
Day 2, Tuesday, September 30th: After breakfast you have the chance to play one of the Courses of St Andrews, the most famous Golf Courses in the world, 18 holes of fabulous golf in the stunning scenery and history of St Andrews all around you. Rest of the day free to explore and see more of the town. Dinner on own. Overnight St. Andrews. Includes: (B).
Day 3, Wednesday, October 1st: We head north today up towards Inverness where we stop at Johnstones Woollen Mill at Elgin for a tour of this real working woolen mill, a visit to Clava Cairns, the standing stones and burial cairns made famous in the Outlander Series of books by Diana Gabaldon, a visit to Culloden Battlefield, where Bonnie Prince Charlie led the last land battle on British soil and was defeated in 1746. Overnight at Culloden House, a Georgian Mansion just outside of Inverness. Dinner Inc. Tonight you meet the Culloden Ghost. Includes: (B), (D).
Day 4, Thursday, October 2nd: We head north today for our second Championship course, Royal Dornoch, another famous 18 hole course. Dornoch is a Royal Burgh, 45 minutes north of Inverness, across the Black Isle, home of Dornoch Cathedral, where Madonna was married a few years ago, and Glenmorangie Distillery as well as Royal Dornoch Championship Golf Club. After enjoying this famous 18 hole course, you will have time for lunch at the Clubhouse and then time to explore the town, visit the historical cathedral and shop in some of the quaint antique and artisan shops in town. Return to Culloden House. Dinner on own. Includes: (B).
Day 5, Friday, October 3rd: After breakfast we depart and head down the side of Loch Ness with a stop at Urquhart Castle for a tour of this ruin of the once largest castle in Scotland with time to take photos of the famous or infamous Loch Ness Monster, where yet again another movie has been made, The Water Horse, about the Legend of the Deep. We then continue our journey with a stop at Eilean Donan Castle, made famous by the Highlander TV series and Movie and also the World Is not Enough, James Bond Movie. This castle will probably be familiar to you, as it graces many Scottish Calendars.
We have a tour of this historical castle before we head to the Isle of Skye golf course, a 9 hole links course with beautiful views of the Isle of Raasay where you can often see seals and other wildlife basking on the rocks nearby. We have a fun afternoon playing this challenging course (mainly due to the wind), before we head to our hotel in the main town of Portree, just 13 miles further north. Our hotel sits overlooking Portree harbor, Portree, means Kings Port in Gaelic. Dinner on own. Tonight you are in a very lively town, so this is your night to venture out and meet the local in one of the many pubs in town. Includes: (B).
Day 6, Saturday, October 4th: After breakfast we have a short time to shop in the town with its unique artisan shops before we head south on the island down to Armadale where we catch the mid morning ferry for the short 23 minute ride to Mallaig, a quaint fishing village on the mainland, then a short drive to our next golf course, a true hidden gem, with beautiful views over the small isles of Eigg, Rhum and Canna, a 9 hole course called Traigh, Gaelic name meaning Beach, pronounced *Try*. The Scotsman Newspaper describes it as *Probably the most beautifully sited 9 hole golf course in the world*. Hit the true seaside Links Course for the game, before we continue along the *Road to the Isles* in reverse to Fort William.
We stop at the Glenfinnan Monument and Viaduct where we stop for a short time to take photos, (the viaduct was shown in the Harry Potter movies) followed by another visit to the Caledonian Canal and Neptune’s Staircase where we can take photos of the 9 locks that make the canal allow boats to travel from Inverness to Fort William. We will pass Glencoe where the Massacre took place in 1692 of the MacDonalds by the Kings army including Many Clan Campbell members. Continue south down the side of Loch Linnhe, with a stop for photos at Castle Stalker view, another beautiful castle, that is privately owned with beautiful views over the Loch. Overnight Country House Hotel outside of Oban. Includes: (B), (D).
Day 7, Sunday, October 5th: After your good Scottish breakfast we head east to the quaint village of Killin where we see the Falls of Dochart, which run through the center of the town and head to the first golf course on your trip, for a round on this picturesque 9 hole local course. After the game, time for lunch in town (not inc) and a visit to the historical Longhouse (time permitting/if it is open. A more leisurely day, time to enjoy the quaint village and shops and scenery and return to our hotel earlier today to enjoy the beautiful location. Dinner on own. Overnight Oban. Includes: (B).
Day 8, Monday, October 10th: Head south to the town of Inveraray where we visit Inveraray Castle the historical home of the Duke of Argyll and the clan seat of the Campbells, and have some time to visit the historical jail in the town, and also the best whisky shop in the world, with some free time for lunch in town, before we continue on over the back roads towards the Rest and Be Thankful, where we stop for a photo opportunity. Continue on to Luss where we have some time explore the historical church and the quaint village, sitting on the banks of Loch Lomond, one of Scotland’s famous Loch’s. Then we head on into Glasgow for our final night dinner at our hotel. Overnight Glasgow. Includes: (B), (D).
