Visitors have marveled at the alpine grandeur of the Teton Range since early French voyagers first named this cluster of high peaks. Today, they’re best known as the jagged mountains that rise dramatically from the sagebrush flats of Jackson Hole. We begin our tour on the western side, from where the mountains were obviously originally named. Rich in history, scenery and wildlife, this range offers an unforgettably beautiful cycling experience.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: We meet at the Cottontree Inn in Rexburg, Idaho for a rental bike fitting at 4:00pm, orientation at 5:30pm and dinner at 6:30pm. Home to Brigham Young University, Rexburg is a dry college town on the western side of the Tetons. 0 miles.

Day 2: We begin our cycling heading east, while enjoying views of the Teton mountains in the distance. We’ll bike to Upper Mesa Falls for a picnic lunch and where a short hike takes us to an over-look of the falls. Then it’s on to Island Park to spend the night in a lodge on the banks of Henry’s Fork of the Snake River, known best for its excellent fly fishing. 32 – 69 miles.

Day 3: We’ll awake to watch the morning fog rise off the river. After breakfast, a short shuttle will take us to the start of a stunning ride through Gallatin National Forest over paved roads with zero traffic. We’ll picnic at the confluence of Henry’s Fork and Warm Rivers, and then stay at the unique Squirrel Creek Elk Ranch. We’ll feel miles away from anywhere else. 43 miles.

Day 4: We continue our ride toward the mountains through rolling farmland until we’re directly beneath the range in Teton Valley. We’ll overnight in Driggs, where our company was founded, in spacious condos for the next two nights. Then we’ll enjoy yoga in the afternoon before dinner. The yoga sessions will be perfect for all skill levels, from the novice to the experienced, and will be an excellent respite from all the cycling. 35 miles.

Day 5: Today we ride to the bottom of Grand Targhee Ski Resort to explore the mountains up close. Take an optional hike or chair lift up or down the mountain to catch the breathtaking views from the top. The resort also has a new climbing wall and zip line for those looking for a different type of challenge. After lunch on your own, we’ll have dinner together as a group. 20 miles.

Day 6: We start the day with yoga, as an ideal way to prepare for our ride over famous Teton Pass. Remember that the van is always available to give you a lift if needed. We’ll all wait at the top of the pass to cheer on those who complete the entire climb and to take a group photo with Jackson Hole below us. After the fun descent, you’re free to enjoy the afternoon browsing in the many stores and art galleries on Jackson’s town square. Watch the nightly western shoot-out for a truly campy tourist experience. Dinner will be on your own. 35 miles.

Day 7: We continue our exploration of the Tetons by cycling beneath the spires of Grand Teton National Park. We’ll see herds of wild buffalo grazing beside the road along the way and stop at Jenny Lake for a breathtaking view of the blue alpine reservoir below the towering peaks. We finish the day with a float trip to view the wildlife and mountains from a different perspective. 47 miles.

Day 8: We’ll get an early start on the day, when the morning sun on the Grand Teton Range offers a spectacular photo opportunity. Keep an eye out for the elk and moose who are particularly active in the quiet mornings. We’ll end our tour with a farewell picnic lunch in Jackson. Then we will shuttle you to a hotel or the airport in Jackson by 2:00pm. 40 miles.
