Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrive in Addis Ababa. Relax and Recreation. City tour and evening dinner at Top View restaurant overlooking the city.
Day 2: Early morning drive from Addis Ababa to Bahir Dar. Arrive in Bahir Dar evening. Dinner and walk around the city. Stay in centrally located hotel for walking distance of city centre.
Day 3: Lake Tana and the Blue Nile Falls. Also see Haile Selassie’s Palace at Bahir Dar. See churches on island tours of Lake Tana. Evening local entertainment and local meal.
Day 4: Drive to Gonder and see Castles of Gonder. Overnight at Goha Hotel in Gonder. Visit baths of King Fasiladas, as well as Falasha Jewish Village.
Days 5-8: Trekking Begins: Gonder to the Simien Mountains. Drive to Sankaber to visit Chelada baboon and the Simien National Park. Mountain climbing and visiting Walia ibex (wild goat). Simien jackal, and Gelada baboon the three unique animals to Ethiopia and Lammergeyer. O/N lodging and Camping.
Day 9: Morning drive from Simien Mountains National Park to Axum. Arrive Axum in the afternoon. Stay at Axum Yeha Hotel. Tour by evening of the city. Have local evening meal and enjoy Tigrayan Dancing. Introduce Children’s and Women’s Educational Project stakeholders. Invite them to the meal and discuss aid project’s progress and status. Visit Queen of Sheba Baths and ancient reputed palace of Queen Shebe en route.
Day 10: Ethiopian coffee ceremony, breakfast and tour of Axum city with aid project stakeholders. Visit Axum Obelisks and Church of Saint Mary Zion. Visit Axum Museum. Lunch with stakeholders and meetings for review of project.
Day 11: Return to Addis Ababa. Stay overnight Desai or Kombolcha.
Day 12: Addis Ababa arrive late afternoon. In the evening. Cultural Music evening at a good Cultural restaurant to witness different types of Ethiopian dancing.
Day 13: Addis Ababa to Menegesha Suba Forest. Visit the 8 Shape volcano crater of Dindi Lake for morning walk. Visit 15th century forest. One of the earliest examples of conservation in Africa. Walking and camping overnight. Camp fire. Different types of wildlife are possible including antelope, Ethiopia leopard and hyenas.
Day 14: Addis Ababa – relax and recreation at the Hilton Hotel. In the afternoon tour of the Mercarto – purportedly the largest Market in East Africa at least. In the evening dinner at the Finefine Restaurant or choice of European Restaurant instead.
