Your Itinerary:
Day 1: Meet your host at Namibia's International airport. Transfer to a small Game-/guest farm in the eastern Kalahari desert to relax from the long flight and acclimatize to Namibia. Africa dancing to welcome you to the Kalahari and its inhabitants.
Day 2: Refreshed and breakfasted, you should be prepared to join a San tracker who will demonstrate their age-old skills of survival. Also included is a Game drive through the orange-red, linear dunes of the Kalahari.
Day 3: Move further south and towards the central Kalahari to join a Cheetah drive and end your day peacefully, viewing wildlife from a hide.
Day 4: Start your day with an early morning scenic drive, enjoy a guided walk and end your day with a sundowners drive through the Kalahari.
Day 5: To shorten the distance to southern Namibia, spend the night at a unique fossil site on the edge of the Kalahari, ending your day with a short hike.
Day 6: After visiting the site of the fossils, the amazing Quiver trees - plus a few other surprises - move on to a mountain lodge where you will end your day with a Game viewing drive.
Day 7: Continue further south towards the Orange River - the most southern border of Namibia with South Africa - with some canoeing on the river in the late afternoon.
Day 8: A good night's rest and a hearty breakfast before a day visit to the majestic Fish River Canyon. Return to your Cabana for dinner and a well-deserved rest.
Day 9: An early start to move closer to the Namib desert where you will end your day with a sundowners drive in search of the elusive Feral horses of the Namib.
Day 10: Today, a respite from the heat in the Interior, with a visit to the fairy- tale, coastal town of Lüderitz - totally secluded with one road in and out. Visit Agate Beach and experience the fury of the Atlantic Ocean at Diaz Point.
Day 11: En-route to the most photogenic area of the Namib desert, stop over at the ghost town of Kolmanskop. Experience first-hand the might of the desert as it gradually encroached on an erstwhile "boom town".
Day 12: Once settled at this photographer's paradise, join a dune- and wildlife viewing drive.
Day 13: A relatively short drive today as you continue further north into the Namib towards a Nature Camp where you may decide on either a Nature drive or guided hike.
Day 14: Entire day to explore this scenic region of the Namib on a combination guided hike and mountain drive.
Day 15: Another short drive today will end at a Moroccan-styled tented camp near Sossusvlei. After leisurely exploring your new surroundings on short walks, freshen up for dinner, served al fresco on the terrace with paraffin-/kerosene lamps lit after sunset. Dine while viewing desert wildlife quenching their thirst at a floodlit waterhole.
Day 16: Just a quick cup of coffee/tea before a very early drive along the Tsauchab River Valley towards some of the highest sand dunes in the world at Sossusvlei. Climb a dune to experience the changing colors of this pristine landscape as the sun rises. Descend when ready to enjoy a scrumptious breakfast in the shade of age-old Camel thorn trees. A welcome Siesta during the hottest part of the day before exploring the geologically historic Sesriem Gorge, late afternoon.
Day 17: As an optional extra - Not included in the safari price, but privately offered at a fixed price of N$3050 per person - be woken before dawn for the experience of a lifetime. In the cool, pre-dawn air, ascend in a hot-air balloon and silently drift high above the immensity of the Namib desert. From this exclusive vantage point, the rising sun paints an endless vista of shadow and light over an ocean of sand dunes and mountains. After about an hour of silently riding the air, descend and celebrate this unique event with a champagne breakfast in the middle of the desert. Flight certificates will be presented before the 4 X 4 drive back to the lodge. Continue across the endless plains of the central Namib, where you will be treated with a scenic drive on which you can etch this pristine wilderness into your memory - forever!
Day 18: Traveling through two Canyons/Gorges, continue towards the Atlantic coastline to welcome the cool sea-air after days in the desert. If you are seafood lovers - Swakopmund is it!
Day 19: Entire day at own leisure for winding down. View and photograph the German-colonial architecture; visit museums; view the largest mineral crystal cluster unearthed to date - amongst other glittering treasures of the earth; visit the many stores, coffee bars and curio shops, or simply laze on the beach - weather permitting. (Alternatively, you may wish to partake of any of a number of optional adrenaline activities offered privately - or a pleasure flight along the Skeleton Coast.
Day 20: Unfortunately, all good things must also end and you have to return to Windhoek. En-route, experience the utter desolation of the Moon Landscape and stand in awe nest to the oldest living plant specimens on earth, the Welwitschia mirabilis. Not to make the transition from the wilderness to civilization too abrupt, you will sleep at a Game-/guest farm en-route to the airport. End your day with a scenic drive, with a final glimpse of our Namibian sunset on this, your last night in Namibia, Africa.
Day 21: Subject to flight departure time, you may have an entire morning to finish the last few exposures on your film - or space left on your digital memory card. Transfer to Namibia's International airport to arrive in time for your departure flight.
