A self-catering, camping safari with mountain hiking and adrenaline activities... a "no frills" African experience! This offer is valid for Any 8 days of choice between January and December. This camping safari is guaranteed to run, even with a minimum booking of only two guests! The safari will start in Windhoek and will end again in Windhoek - 8 days later. Your itinerary will include various short hiking trails on the slopes of a small desert mountain - just to "warm you up"! A total of three nights will then be spent along the Namibian Atlantic coast where you may partake of any number of activities provided by private operators.
The basis of this camping safari is that we shall provide you with the necessary transport, fuel and driver, as well as tents and roll-up mattresses; all accommodation and entrance fees as well as guidance, leaving you the choice of activities and bodily nourishment requirements. You are thus under no obligation to partake of any meal that was pre-arranged at a set venue - you eat what you want, when you want it. Maybe organize your own "food-kitty" or something similar. Either dining establishments or self-catering facilities will be available at most camping venues.
Your Itinerary:
Day 1: Meet your host at Namibia's International airport and transfer to a comfortable bed and breakfast in to relax from the flight and acclimatize to Namibia. Time will be available to obtain camping provisions.
Day 2: Via the Khomas Hochland to the escarpment, descend into the Namib desert towards your first desert venue - a Namib guest farm.
Day 3: Entire day at own leisure for exploring your new environment, or join in some of the offered activities - excellent hiking opportunities.
Day 4: Traverse the endless gravel plains of the central Namib desert towards the Namibian coastline today. Arrive late afternoon to pitch camp on one of the few camping sites in Namibia with green lawns, and your own, private ablution.
Day 5: Entire day at own leisure to partake of any of a number of optional activities on offer by private operators.
Day 6: Continue with activities that you did not have time for yesterday, or browse the German-colonial shops and architecture of Namibia's premier holiday resort. If weather permits, laze around on the beach, and if you are seafood lovers, Swakopmund is it!
Day 7: After breaking camp and an early lunch, return to Windhoek. Arrive mid- to late afternoon. For those who feel up to it, and wish to, you might want to join a local sundowners drive for a final view of our sunset on this, your last night in Namibia, Africa.
Day 8: Subject to flight departure time, you may have the entire morning to enjoy nature walks, or simply laze on a pool chair, viewing wildlife at the waterhole. Transfer to Namibia's International airport to arrive in time for your departure flight.
