Day 1: Helsinki
Take a taxi to your centrally located hotel upon arrival. Welcome to the city where East meets West. Through the years of foreign rule, Helsinki has developed into a unique metropolis where extraordinary architecture stands side by side to natural beauty. Try Lappi restaurant for genuine Sami specialties or Konstan Möljä for traditional Finnish cuisine. If you feel like something Russian, try the romantic Babushka Ira. This restaurant is small so calling ahead for reservations might be a good idea.

Day 2: Helsinki
Spend the day exploring the fabulous city on your own. We can offer many suggestions or activities.

Day 3: Helsinki – Porvii – Lappeenranta – Imatra
After breakfast pick up your manual midsize rental car from downtown and head north east towards the lake region. We suggest a stop in historical Porvoo to see the charming wooden houses and cobblestone streets. Continue on ending the day in Imatra. With some many options a visit to the Fortress of Lappeenranta, the harbor, and Lake Saimaa is highly recommended.

Day 4: Imatra – Savonlinna
Continue your journey towards Savonlinna. As you thread your way along the highway pay close attention to the east – you may catch a glimpse of the Russian border. In Savonlinna the rest of the day is yours to explore in this impressive city surrounded by Finland’s beauty.

Day 5: Savonlinna – Mikkeli
As you head back towards Helsinki make a stop in Mikkeli for the evening. Take time to explore this capital city of eastern Finland. There are many different walking paths near the lake, perhaps you may want to pack a picnic and enjoy an afternoon along the lake.

Day 6: Mikkeli – Helsinki
Rise and savor another wonderful breakfast before continuing on towards Helsinki. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel, drop off your luggage and return your rental car. Take time to reflect on your amazing journey through Finland’s finest region of lakes.

Day 7: Helsinki – USA
After breakfast, transfer on own for your return flight to the U.S. or let us help you extend your trip!
